Speaking of trying to poach copper...

From newsoftheweird.com
"Two men and a woman were among the recent wave of people trying to cash in on the high price of copper scrap metal when they broke into an abandoned nursing home in Gainesville, Ga., in July. However, they had missed the sign at the entrance announcing that the building had recently been converted into a training facility and kennel for police dogs, and they were quickly sicced on and arrested. D'OH!

Sounds like a lot of work for $1000. Probably less, as presumably whoever they fenced it to would want to resell at a profit.

That's about it. $2.85+ for #1 clean copper. I liked the guys using service trucks and setting up cones, taking down light poles in Baltimore (aluminum-they got over 160+ poles.) I was in the scrap (hauling) business for about four years. I heard and saw tons (yea-a pun) of stories, and with the high prices, it's still going on.
