Duke Lacrosse Accuser Gives Birth

Chapel Hill — WRAL has confirmed that the accuser in the Duke lacrosse case gave birth at UNC Hospitals on Wednesday.

Sources tell WRAL the woman had the baby by Cesarean section. She was not due until February.

I realize I am behind on this thread, so forgive me for such a late response. IMHO our educational institutions should have little use for educators who choose to talk about free speech as in "Historically, such attacks on free speech have risen sharply in times of national crisis...".

One wonders whether or not these people even understand what "free speech" really is. Is the government chasing down the "dissenters" and throwing them in jail, which is what free speech is really about? Do they just want to play the victim when others complain back to them, in essence, engaging in discourse that the writer pretends to desire?

What this writer really objects to that there are often negative consequences for speaking her mind. Well, welcome to the real world! To suggest that free speech is being threatened is ludicrous. People who think like this need to go back to grade school and learn what free speech really is. Any fourth grader could teach them.

True enough but it was (is) extraordinarily difficult to get rid of him! CU is jumping through all sorts of hoops to get him out of there!

AND CU was able to get him for plagiarism and misrepresentation of credentials IIRC. It would not be so simple at Duke. (although I certainly hope they try!)

I think that's going to be the second, if less important, half of this debacle. Black racists everywhere are becoming quick to blame Nifong for Mangum's role. Mangum is a victim of society, poverty, etc., until she falsely cried rape, at which point she immediately became a victim of Nifong's misconduct, giving her seamless enjoyment of unquestionable victimhood in perpetuity so as to excuse her and their own behavior.
