Word for the Day, Friday, December 1, 2006
Webster's | December 1, 2006 | Argh

Posted on 12/01/2006 1:14:02 AM PST by Argh

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of two "Words for the Day".

1. vastation [noun, pronounced vas-TAY-shun, from Latin vastus empty, waste]
a. a renewal or purification through the burning away or destruction of evil attributes
b. obscure: devastation

2. vaticinal [pronounced va-TISS-in-ul, adjective, from Latin vaticinari to prophesy]
of, relating to, or containing prophecy: prophetic

Example sentence:
Another time.

Rules: Everyone should leave a post using one or more of the Words for the Day in one or more sentences.
The sentences should, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Are you referring to Britney's recent underwearless episode?

Oh that.

Well, it was a minor incident, nothong to speak of, really.

Saw right thru it, as a matter of fact.

is it what you use to put over a sweatshirt or something that you are trying to xs on?

Yes. And I remember buying it in a variety of sizes. all that was available in the shop I found yesterday was 6 inch squares.

I found the cutest patterns for putting on sock cuffs, and I wanted to make a pair for both Jax and Becky.

We don't play them until Wednesday so we can use Chitaco Saturday and Phoenix on Monday to warm up. We call the Blackhawks Chitaco because last year they were almost a guaranteed taco win, with Taco Bell giving free tacos if we scored 5 goals. A-O, Ta-co is a favorite cheer at games.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY YOU YOUNG COOT!

Thank you thank you thank you.

i like cincinnati and their chili is weird, but we had the best family style meal at the Maggiano's in suburban Cincinnati the last time we were there for a tournament. i highly recommend Maggiano's esp if you do the family style. do they have them in the Burgh? bc it's a chain, we have them here and have eaten in one in downtown Denver also.

Never heard of it. Decent Italian food, I would hope by the name.

Cincinnati means Montgomery Inn for their ribs. Either the one downtown or the original one in (duh) Montgomery a little farther north.

I'm itching for some O fries, thanks. Cheese and ketchup. I haven't had 'em in ages. They actually have a satellite store in Murrysville I'll have to check out some day.

Well, then I heard about the prostate health benefits, which imo outweigh the social stigma of hairy palms -- and I can always wear gloves out in public. (Come to think of it, maybe that explains about why Michael Jackson always wore just that one glove.)
