I'm also a member of DU — and when someone at DU feels this way and posts it, they're entitled! No one's going to castigate them for doing so.

Unfortunately, there are tons of counter-examples. I'm actually not surprised that the original poster of this won't suffer retribution - it's been spun as proof of how much more high-minded Democrats are than "brown-shirted Rethugs". However, I've seen barely-positive comments about conservatives result in a tombstoning, so I'd really say longevity at DU is unpredictable, at best.

Conservatives are capable of olive branches too - we're just tired of having them set on fire with a burning American flag... ;)

Yeah, maybe, if it had any basis in fact. Half of the things on that list are laughable. They have proven time and time again that they reward corruption in their party, they do not hold thier own accountable. Annd they do not tolerate diversity of opinion. They silence opposing opinion at every opportunity

I dunno much about them as I usually don't lurk over there anymore. My one attempt at becoming a member was snagged by none other than one one the big admins (Skinner, EarlG) and I was banned after 35 postings because I disagreed with some moonbat on 3rd World bullies such as Castro...I really believe it is because I didn't use the "F" word (so in evidence there) enough in expressing my opinion and was therefore sniffed out...
HOWEVER, the person who originally posted this seems geniune, reasonable and certainly out of the mainstream hard-left hate FReeper types usually found there. I truly wish there was a neutral site where such people and I could go, exchange ideas, perhaps change minds, and agree to sometimes disagree without being disagreeable.

Hah! I'm 26. Barry's two generations up in the family tree, on my father's side. His father changed the family name and converted to Christianity — the whole rest of the family retains the German translation of the name, and we're all Jewish.
