The pundits seem to think that it is conventional wisdom that Don Rumsfeld is on his way out.
The races in VA, MO, and MT are not looking very good either.
If that pans out and we lose the Senate by one vote, I think Joe Lieberman would make an excellent Secretary of Defense.
Then the fine governor of Connecticut, the Republican Jodi Rell, could appoint a replacement.
That might make mad Harry's head explode...
The rats wouldn't allow it. They'd just block Lieberman's confirmation. Then there wouldn't be the vacant seat.
lol. rummy will stay just to give em the finger.
At his age, why would he want to?
I can only hope that the Bush administration is more level headed than some of the people posting here are. Bush does have a war to fight. Another front has unfortunately opened up, but he can't just abandon the first one.
>>Remember... Lieberman won as an Independant... If he left the Senate, it wouldnt effect the balance at all.<<
He's gonna caucus Dem - no way he take a two year administration job after winning this race.
Plus I bet Rumsfeld stays.
He is a good guy as liberals go but then again he is a liberal, aint gana happen.
Do you think Karl Rove allow this I don't know it
We all know Karl Rove genius and Manfciant bastard
Like Amnesty for illegals????
Lieberman is a squish. We need a real man for the job.
So is President Bush. He wants amnesty for illegal immigrants, and the North American Union, signs off on out of control spending in every bill, signed Campaign Finance Reform which really takes away from free speech, plus, at least, forty other things that make him a liberal. President Bush will get amnesty for illegals now, and this country is done.
Liebeman is a FAR LEFT LIBERAL and ALWAYS has been!!!
ANY Republican that supports him beyond being happy he beat the nutroots guy is a FOOL.
What are his credentials. Does he know the butt end from the business end.....no!
Eh?
The next secretary of defense needs to be competent, not an opportunistic public relations pick. Same goes for his successor, and the successor to that successor, and so on. Lives (civilian, enlisted, commissioned) could depend on it.
What math are you using?
It's a question of priorities. Which is more important - Rumsfeld as SecDef, or GOP control of the Senate?
I know. We don't have much to look forward to.
