I still have a bronze bust of Nefertiti that I picked up in Cairo in the early '60's.

It is said by some that Nefertiti was a Mitanni.
The Mitanni (alongside the Hurri) were a race of Central Asian charioteers who had carved out a kingdom in Northern Mesopotamia (note Nefertiti's high Tartar cheekbones). It would have been an alliance based on providing Egypt with horses, which were not native to ancient Egypt.

Nefertiti's religious striptease was an important part of her daily routine There she slipped off her diaphanous robe and offered up her body, shaved, oiled and perfumed, to the warm caresses of the object of her devotion - the sun god known as Aten. Just think, once a high priestess and now reduced to advertising Playtex half-size bras on cable T.V. night after night when the kiddies are asleep.

Reading the above book at the moment.
Wonder if Fletcher's ID of the mummy is actually correct, very cool if she is right.
There does appear to be an uncanny resemblance.
Fletcher herself is kind of cute, according to the pic on the dust jacket.
I notice that the Egyptians are ticked off enough at her theories to have banned her from Egypt. The scientific method, I guess.
