Ashley Cleveland, 39, moved from Atlanta to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, in 2020. Currently based in South Africa, she has a firm that assists foreigners in investing in and expanding their businesses.
Cleveland expressed appreciation that race is “an abstract concept” in much of Africa.
“Seeing Black African people on the money, on the billboards,” she said, “you immediately eliminate your Blackness.” Cleveland welcomed the change for her children, ages 9 and 2 when they left the U.S., noting that her elder daughter was “no longer bullied” for her deep brown skin tone.

Africa needs more BLM and Antifa action
You and I, as most Westerners are, are used to the ‘generic’ black person. The descendants of slaves from mostly West Africa, have basically lost their typical tribal body shapes and features found in their ancestors because of intermarriages and introduction of Caucasian genetic material.
But the Africans of today are nearly unchanged from their ancestors.
We can’t tell a Hutu from a Tutsi, a Zulu from a Maasai, an Ashanti from a Fulani, but THEY CAN, and from a mile away.
American blacks who travel or relocate to Africa had best learn how to spot the differences and quickly............................

This is hilarious. I leaned against the back of my restaurant booth and listened to a black woman describe her adventure in Africa to find her roots to her black friend. This was just after the television movie of that name. She said that the blacks they met radiated hatred. If it weren’t for the guards they’d have been attacked. The blacks there can tell what tribe you come from by how you look and they’re the most hateful, racist people she ever met. She wouldn’t go back there if you paid her.
You haven’t run into racism until you’ve worked with Chinese from the mainland. They maintain different levels of racism based, I guess, on how much you can or can’t help them. But when I worked with a few, blacks were on the absolute bottom of their list. The only people they treated as equals were the ones who could fire them.
This is a repeated subject, and I will make the same remark as I did another time.
There may be no racial discrimination in Africa, but the arrogant American attitude will get them into trouble with the locals faster than anything else. I know as when I lived in Africa I witnessed it first hand, and the government wanted American Blacks out because of it.
Yet another way to look at it, is if they can afford to move to Africa, they will take their wealth with them and not live poorly with the locals. They will be segregated away from the local culture in their own areas and live above the standards of the locals. They will likely be perceived no different than Whites living separately.
I had several black contractors in the 90s while living in Madison, they told me about it.
How many have left? 4?

Skin tone discrimination?? Just like New Orleans where the brown paper bag test decided which part ofblacksociety you belonged to.
The discrimination a black will face from other blacks in Africa will depend on what “tribe” they come from or what religion they are. I doubt other countries have as much equal protection under the law as the US (even though it’s diminishing in the US).
They may wind up missing the constitutional and statutory protections of the US because the bottom line is, there are A-holes everywhere, so just because there’s no KKK in Tanzania, doesn’t mean there aren’t people who will treat you poorly or even try to kill you.
Maybe she forgot that Barack Obama was elected President for two terms? Or, that most of the NFL and NBA is black. Or that some of the greatest celebrities and musicians in this country are black. Or that this country has countless government programs giving money, healthcare and other benefits to poor people, many of them black. How soon they forget.
How do we encourage more of this?
We need a black exodus. Best for both sides.

Proof of actual racism in the US. The covered-up racism in the black community against darker skins blacks. Colorism is real but unacknowledged.
