Hell is freezing over when Democrats support efforts to prosecute criminals. The boy Governor's views seemed to have changed from his statement last month. He has dispatched CHP officers, and State and National Guard attorneys to Oakland. The officers will make arrests for "retail theft" and the suspects will be prosecuted. Great job there Alameda County DA (yes, sarc).

For the record, FReepers commented in the past how destructive the change would be from raising the threshold for petty theft from $400 to $950. It was an easy prediction. The cost in dollars and jobs lost has run into the millions of dollars.

A diagnosis of pancreatic cancer has a better outlook than when you reach that moment that even democrats side with republicans on something like this.

Na. What is really needed is a law that forces states attorneys and district attorneys to prosecute all cases according to state law. Failure to do so should be a class 1 felony offense punishable by 10 years in prision per each count. Leaving enforcement to the whim of an elected official is a the first step on the path to a politicized judicial system. Going after the criminals anso includes statesand district attorneys and malcreant judges. Penalties for perversion of justice by government official needs to be not only severe but sure.

Meanwhile, NYS recently closed six prisons.

And is now taking about closing 5 more in addition.

“he noted $950 is one of the lowest felony theft thresholds in the nation.”

That’s not the problem, Gov Greaseball. The problem is it isn’t even being prosecuted as a misdemeanor or a ticketable citation. It’s just waved on as nothing. No consequence.

So they want to reform the last reform which reformed the reform before it after reforming the previous reform messes they reformed.

I should go into the reform business. Government people have an insatiable appetite for it. I’ll get rich selling it.
