GOP Rep. Bill Johnson (OH) on Tuesday announced he will be resigning from Congress.
As TGP’s Kristinn Taylor reported, the resignation from the House by former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) took effect Sunday.
Following the resignation of McCarthy and Bill Johnson and the ousting of George Santos, the Republicans will be left with a razor-thin majority of 219-213 by January 21.
Politico reported:
Ohio GOP Rep. Bill Johnson will resign from Congress on Jan. 21 to become the new head of Youngstown State University, a move that will further shrink the tight House GOP majority.
Johnson’s departure, coming on the heels of the resignation of Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and the expulsion of Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.), means Republicans will control just 219 seats. Once he leaves, the GOP can only lose two members of their conference for a vote to pass.
“Bill submitted his official resignation from Congress today, effective at the end of day on January 21, 2024, paving the way for him to begin his presidency this month,” Michael Peterson, chair of the school’s board of trustees, wrote in a message to the university community.

Jeffery Epstein’s list?
Exactly what I thought, the cost is nothing from a man like Soros who has one foot on the banana peel, the other in the grave.
It wasn't razor-thin at 220?
Gateway is a bit slow on this one. He accepted in November.
I’m sick of hearing and reading about the “razor thin majority” the Pubs have...MEANWHILE
THE RAT SENATE HAS A REAL RAZOR THIN MAJORITY.
WISE UP, MEDIA.
Funny how this sort of thing never happens when the Democrats are in charge.
He didn't vote at all. No support there for Santos.
BTW, Johnson is pretty much MAGA, so you all can put that to rest.
He's replacing numbnuts "Coach" Tressel, so maybe it's an honest effort by YSU to dislodge more bucks for YSU in the legislature. Johnson is 69, think about it, this is a nice payday with top-flight insurance and he'll have to work maybe two months a year.
He’s a real American hero!
F’n traitor to the American experiment.
Rather leave for a cushy job, than hold the line on woke tards ruining this Country.
Hope he trips and breaks his neck. What an azz wipe !
these power hungry weasels do things ONLY for a reason.....
yeah and be sure to answer your multiple pleads from the pub party for donations, because afterall they really lay the law down now don’t they....NOT!
Oh yeah. Let’s all get all huffy and self righteous and indignant and expel another Republican from Congress.
“Because principles.”
Spit.
Jim Tressel for Congress?
“He didn’t vote at all. No support there for Santos.”
That’s why I posted the November expulsion vote where Johnson DID participate, and not the December expulsion vote where he wasn’t even present at the time.
Why did he even run for Congress if he didn’t intend to complete his 2 year term?
Except for death or extreme circumstances, it should be illegal for politicians to bail out before their terms are over.
Suggested punishment would be forfeiting their pensions.
BINGO!!!
Companion story about the several special elections to fill the vacancies.
Quit doing factual stuff like the older FR classes used to do!
Thought I'd get away with the slam about the expulsion vote - I checked the December one - but I didn't think to check the earlier one.
Anything to thwart MAGA.
