So many great songs. If I have to choose, I’ll pick an underdog - I’m Only Sleeping - it got far less time on the charts than it deserved.

That was a common irony with Beatles releases: so many of their songs would have been #1 on the charts had it not been for other Beatles songs.

Dr Robert is one of three songs on the album that had already been released in the United States. That’s why they were taken off this album when it was released in the United states.

Ditto. To be fair though, though I enjoy Beatles music I’m not one of those die hard fans. My main exposure to The Beatles was my little sister listening to their stuff all the time. I never actually bought a Beatles album.

Agree!

As I looked at the song list and played each song in my head, I remember loving them all.

Today, the “Taxman” is like a political anthem. It’s hard to believe the Beatles were considered by most hippy Left wing. I think they fooled a lot of people.

An interesting take on life.

“My favorite Beatles album is “Rubber Soul”. The U.S version.”

It’s a completely different feeling record.

I agree!!

Tough choice. Here, There, and Everywhere. Although Eleanor Rigby and Got To Get You Into My Life run a close second.

Wes Montgomery was a brillant guitarist. I owned all his albums at one time. My all time favorite next to Terry Kath.

Good Day Sunshine…
I think there’s a second (or first) meaning there. Good song!

I have the album my parents bought for me in ‘66 at the BX at Peshawar AB, Pakistan. Still sounds great.

I think there’s a second (or first) meaning there.

As with many of their songs, i.e. Norwegian Wood, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, etc.

All very good. Tremendous album. Tomorrow Never Knows is way out there and way more “advanced” in terms of its ability to create a “tune” out of chaos.
In the movie “once upon a time in the West”...Sergio Leone created a “tune” out of the random screeching of a turning metallic windmill, a constant dripping of water on someone’s hat, and the buzz of a fly. He said that music can be many different sounds added together and that’s what he was trying to do.
Paul McCartney says he was influenced by the Beach Boys “Pet Sounds” album in terms of using different instruments and arrangements.

That’s a very clever drawing, depicting dozens of Beatles songs. My favorite in there are the Taxman, Norwegian Wood(s), the Helter Skelter, The Fool on the Hill and Octopus’ Garden.

“Paul McCartney says he was influenced by the Beach Boys “Pet Sounds” album in terms of using different instruments and arrangements.”

Yes, Brian Wilson got there first, compared to the Beatles. But Brian would be the first to admit that he took what Phil Spector had been doing in the studio and applied it to the Beach Boys.
