As fate would have it, I taught [33 yrs]in the school that was eventually built on the site of the circus fire.
The night custodians, used to say, they could hear sounds of screaming as they plodded thru their nightly duties.
A modest memorial was built to remember the tragedy, on/at the fire/school site
People come from far and near to the memorial b/c they have some connection to the fire in their past. Some lost family or friends; some saying **I was supposed to go...** but didn't.
Closure is good in both instances.

The infamous blaze started when the big top tent, coated with a gasoline and paraffin mixture, caught fire and trapped circus-goers inside either burning them to death or suffocating them in searing heat.
That's got to be one of most dreadful stories I've ever read!
