Ten Republican senators announced plans Sunday to release an approximately $600 billion covid relief package that could serve as a bipartisan alternative to President Biden’s $1.9 trillion plan, and requested a meeting with the president to discuss it.

The senators, led by Susan Collins (R-Maine), said they would release additional details of the package on Monday. In a letter to Biden they said they were offering their proposal in recognition of the president’s “calls for unity.”

“We want to work in good faith with you and your administration to meet the health, economic and societal challenges of the covid crisis,” they wrote.

Let me guess, The Republicans will vote for the package as long as the $1400 is removed for Americans and the foreign aid remains.

Do they know they can be brushed aside like a gnat now? They stabbed Trump in the back for four years, rubber stamped the steal, and now they are meaningless.

Ug. But I just watch Biden’s NEC head essentially say that there is no time for this. They have to act now without any talking. Pass it now with a Dim only majority and that’s it.

They certainly did. But now all of a sudden they want to work with Biden. These people are disgusting beyond belief.

They are backstabbers, liars and con artists.

It all comes down to whether Biden and Schumer have the balls to pass this stuff under reconciliation — which only requires 51 votes and bypasses the filibuster. They could get it, but it would piss off Manchin and RINOs and cause problems in the future on things he needs them for.

The Romney Crew is a lot bigger than it appears. There is a more support and sympathy for them inside the GOP than we are led to believe. Its all a big con game designed to deceive us. The GOP is rotten to the core.

Like it or not, the Dems are waiting for ONE ISSUE with which to nuke the filibuster, given that enough ‘conservatives’ followed Lin Wood and boycotted the Georgia runoffs to ‘teach the GOP a lesson’.

So get used to it...we have virtually no leverage, and the Dems will keep reminding us of it and threatening to dump what little leverage reminds.

...hmmm, I wonder if following Lin Wood was such a great idea now?

It wasn’t Lin Wood that lost us the Senate, it was Mitch McConnell stopping the vote for the stimulus right before the election. The dumbest political move in the history of mankind.

I believe one can use budget reconciliation to avoid filibuster once a year. Once this budget reconciliation is used, next year’s budget can’t use budget reconciliation. This depends if the Democrats want to risk a government shutdown around November 2021.
