Two tiered system? Many Pa. counties didn't allow voters to cure rejected mail-in ballots

The boards of elections in at least 15 Pennsylvania counties did not implement last-minute state instructions on "curing" faulty ballots on Election Day, while at least 14 counties followed the secretary of state's advice, according to a Just the News survey that exposes a two-tiered vote counting system that could face legal challenge.

In guidance sent to her state's 67 counties dated Oct. 21, Pennsylvania Secretary of State Kathy Boockvar advised that a voter whose mail-in ballot was rejected would be eligible to vote in person with a provisional ballot on Election Day as a way to "cure" their ballot.

Pennsylvania Republican Rep. Mike Kelly, state House of Representatives candidate Joseph Hamm and four other plaintiffs sued Boockvar over her guidance. The suit argues that individuals who submitted rejected mail-in ballots shouldn't have been given provisional ballots on Nov. 3.

Jonathan Marks, deputy secretary of state for elections and commissions, advised county election officials on Nov. 2 to inform "party and candidate representatives" about the identification of the voters whose ballots had been rejected as a way "to facilitate communication with these voters."....

Thousands of Trump votes didn’t count in Penna., because
of Provisional votes which were not counted.

The SoS has no power to make these changes. County election officials are committing fraud by following illegal instructions. No different that receiving stolen goods. All should be thrown into prison for a very long time.

Why have an election if there is going to be fraud, which is never corrected? Election is nothing but a show. There is no meaning when there is unchecked cheating.

I guess the question I had when I read the court documents is whether or not this process was illegal, or just not “policy.”

A bigger question would be if the Republicans “could” have watched them come in and make those corrections—but didn’t, then why not?

Having different processes in different cities and towns certainly happens. Having different laws within the same state4 is not good.

People who took Civics understand that we are a “republic” where the Rule of Law is supposed to be paramount.
The Left, instead, likes to lie and say that we are a “democracy” — you know: because the people get to vote, and stuff.

Well, I don’t see that much Rule of Law, and I think out elections are a joke where the way people vote doesn’t matter at all. So I guess we are no longer either a republic or a democracy.

Fascist dictatorship may not be here quite yet, but you can smell it coming closer.

I have been voting in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania for over 40 years. I vote in every election. My wife, my 21 year old son, and myself asked for a mail in ballot for the primary. Being Republican there is no real choices so we were not worried about the vote getting lost. Well we did not know we somehow had signed up for mail in for Nov 3rd. No problem just take your complete mail in ballot to vote in person. When we got there none of our names were in the voter role book. The poll worker was really nice and called downtown. They decided to write us into the voter role book and we voted regularly. If we did not have the proof of our mail in ballots, we would have had to vote provisional. I wonder how many people were removed from the voter roll in Pennsylvania that vote in every election?

“A bigger question would be if the Republicans “could” have watched them come in and make those corrections—but didn’t, then why not?”

As I understand it, the PA law says the the parties are allowed to ‘observe’ the counting of ballots. Election officials in democrat areas interpreted that to mean that the obverses would be allowed see the counting, not unlike getting to see a ball game from the nose-bleed seats. The dem PA Supreme Court agreed with this interpretation, as opposed to observing like an umpire or referee who can actually see the cheating.

So they could see the counting, but weren’t close enough to know what was really going on. The Republicans lost their lawsuits over this behavior.

Whatever the SOS, Governor or Courts ordered is irrelevant, the USSC is going to deem it Unconstitutional, Alito almost said as much in his opinion ordering PA to Segregate and Secure ALL Ballots received after 8PM on election day. He cited Article 2, Section 1. I doubt very much the Court will just Overlook this Usurpation of Powers delegated by the US Constitution solely to the State Legislature and NOBODY ELSE!!!

This happened BEFORE Election Day. That was my u derstanding.

Example: you live in South Philly and you send in your ballot, but it isn’t completed correctly. Someone there would contact you and give you the opportunity to correct the flaw before Election Day.

OR— you live in a county where your incomplete or otherwise invalid ballot comes into the office. The clerk makes the same determination that it isn’t valid. They go into a pile. End of story. You think you voted, but unless you check on Election Day, you never know.

I think that is what happened. I don’t know why people would have access to that information in one place but not the other.

That is my understanding of what I read in the court documents.

Because the envelope was incorrect. If it wasn’t signed or directed to the proper precinct, etc. All of that can be seen without looking at the ballot.

Only matters if you have a DOJ that isn’t compromised. Never forget that it has a well earned reputation as the Department of Just Us.

Why on earth anyone would trust their vote to a mail-in system is beyond me.

Now, it’s looking like you can’t trust your vote will count or otherwise be tampered with at the voting booth as well. Major problems and apparently no state court is willing to open that can of worms.
