I watched the bottom scroll on the television Friday about the area I live virtually shutting down - including Houses of Worship. There was even a news report with a highly known man of faith in the community promoting his ability to broadcast the message online this Sunday.
But as I recall, even in the worst of times, Christians came together on the Day of Our Lord and Savior to receive his blessings. From the Bubonic Plague, the to Spanish Flu, to countless wars; Our Fellowship never stopped.
My wife had already planned to go with her sister today to her home Church that has NOT closed it's doors this weekend.
I will be joining them...
... and I will say a prayer for all of us.
As the world around us seems to be shutting down, this is no time to shut out The One we need to get us through this.
Just my $0.02 jimjohn
Thank you for your prayer in the House of the Lord, jimjohn.
Be safe, brother!
Southern Baptist Churches will have a hard time. If they dont get their usual giving at Easter its going to be a hard summer.
I think they’ll be ok. You can give online today. I agree it will be a time of testing of the faith though.
My family is definitely going to mass today. Yesterday we went to a harley fest. It was for charity so we went to support. I refuse to stay at home and not live life. Liberals seem to hate life anyway. I havent changed my routine at all. I was at Winn Dixie and saw an old secretary from the administration office. I went up and gave her over 70 year old body a big hug. Didnt even occur not to. She didnt seem like she was changing her life either.
This will be the 1st Sabbath I’ve missed this year, last week the Priest said “If you’re sick please do not come to mass. It is not a sin to miss mass due to illness.” I am at the final stages of recovering from a cold and do not want to share.
My SIL is a senior pastor of a large church. They are concerned. Their congregation is fairly wealthy so they wont starve but there will be some churches struggle.
The new church building is in progress of being built.
Twice a year Christian’s do not contribute much.
Good for you. No one cares.
Shake hands, kiss each other. Do whatever you want.
Dismiss the advice to protect your fellow citizens. Who cares. We are all nuts. You know better.
But, if you get sick, and you probably wont...promise not to use any public health facilities. Because if you get sick, it must be Gods will. And his will be done.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.(Proverbs 3:5). Our church will be open and observing Presidents National Day of Prayer today.
It may not be much but that 2 or 3% translates into a couple 25 year olds jobs.
In reality it will probably, in the long run, be better to have a percentage of the population volunteer to stress the healthcare system first. Unknowingly they are contributing to the successful management of the disease in this management phase. This will probably last a couple months as those who can last out to the end come out of hiding. Romans 8:28. All things...
In a couple months we can begin the recovery phase.
Our church is closed as we have a parishioner doctor in quarantine that has been in direct contact with a confirmed COVID19 patient here in Central Arkansas. We’ll be watching and praying in pajamas, just like our pastor will be dressed ;)
Very well said. Thank you.
Faith in our Lord Jesus Christ will get us through this.
My previous church in San Antonio will be open today. The church I attended in Austin is closed and the one I attend here in Panama is closed (although still holding services online). While there are 41 confirmed cases in Panama (none in this area), our church is cooperating with the government request although there’s no reason not to worship and celebrate within our homes. This will all pass. I’m not afraid.
You want to stress the healthcare system?
I hope you dont have a heart attack during this stress period.
Trust me...if you stress the healthcare system, it is not going to bounce back. It will just lie on the floor for a few months , like a pile of feces, melting and decaying.
The system is gonna be stressed. Spreading that stress out over time will keep it from being over run.
