Grocery Store Reports: Location And Status- Post Here
03/14/20

I am in Cary, North Carolina. Here is what I just saw.

Just came back from the Harris Teeter off of

270 Grande Heights Dr
Harrison Pointe Shopping Center
Cary, NC 27513

This store is normally well stocked, and you never have trouble finding anything. This morning it was about 65% full. Cleaning supplies, TP, meat, milk and bread were all very low or gone.
The body washes were low. There were lots of empty shelves.

I was listening to the the employee at the cash register. She said there were a lot of people coming into the store and buying anywhere from $600 to $800 worth of groceries. Harris Ts said they were trying to restock the shelves, but the demand was so hight they were having trouble keeping up.I could see the store was restocking the shelves, but wow I have never seen it so empty!

As long as President Trump can keep the supply chain moving, then we will be in good shape. This is evidence on why we should not be so dependent on China for everything.  If this was the 1990s and going back, then this would not even be an issue. Thanks to the stupid politicians that sold us out.  It is a modern version of the Indian Chiefs selling out their tribes for guns, booze and trinkets.

Stores could curb this stupid behavior by greedy shoppers by posting large signs saying NO RETURNS!!! The hoarders will want to bring their beat up cartons & packages back after this madness is over, but stores should have an “all sales final” policy so kooks can’t bring back their 500 rolls of TP.

The Federal Government negotiates trade treaties that is written in the U.S. Constitution. I am sure there are ways to make this happen. Certainly when there are shortages.

I think President Trump not doing anything about it in a National Emergency could hurt him in November.

" It is a modern version of the Indian Chiefs selling out their tribes for guns, booze and trinkets."

Good point and well said.

So why doesn't the US free market induce American manufacturers to rev up the supply, satisfy the demand, and make a profit?

Local schools here in Indiana are making up 5 day grub packs of breakfast and lunch and distributing them to needy youts on the federal lunch program. Delivery by school bus drivers or pick up at school.

OUTSTANDING post/thread for citizen reporters/truth seekers. My very good friend Kris W was in the KZOO Mich Costco yesterday and he said shoppers with their carts were lined up around the interior of the store waiting to check out. Many shelves were empty. He sent a pic to my phone. WOW. I’m a tech caveman.

BUMP for preparedness considerations.

Lots of pics there.

I’m surprised that people would want to rummage through produce that others have been pawing for who-knows how long. Even in normal situation that can be iffy. Cans of food that have been handled are slobbered on aren’t all the great right about now, either.

Went to my local store a bit run down store that never has high traffi and everything was fine. Yesterday they closed schools in the state until the end of the month at least. Stopped in the more upscale large store that I never go to since I was close by and needed something and it litereallly looked like a bomb had gone off is some sections.

I done know if it was the school closing announcement that made the difference as folks prepared for 2-3 weeks of their kids being home all day every day or just different behaviors for this with more discretionary spending ability vs those with less.. but the difference was striking

Walmart (Oak Ridge, TN) was quieter than I’ve ever seen, parking lot remarkably empty, Plenty of food, cleaning goods and paper looked like war zone

They’ve succeeded.

Panic. Hysteria.

The totalitarian’s tool.

It’s a truly sad day.

We just got back from the Market Basket supermarket in Hudson, N.H. and it was interesting, to say the least.

We got there at 6:40 a.m. and there were already people in the aisles. But there were no eggs, no milk (some was stocked an hour later) and most of the pasta was gone except for lasagna and small soup-ingredient pasta. The only potatoes left were reds, though I found a few bags of Russets in a St. Patrick’s Day promo display, and the celery was gone. Bread and canned goods were hit hard, especially canned soup, and the water aisle was cleaned out. Beef and chicken were scarce.

The shoppers were in a good mood, for the most part, and people laughed at the madness of the panic buying. By the time we checked out, around 8:30 a.m., the lines were backed up to the rear of the store and all registers were running.

My wife and I keep well ahead of supplies as a general principle, but yesterday I didn’t see any toilet paper at Walmart. At another, local grocery store, it was rationed: two packs to a customer; I picked up a couple for my son-in-law.

It’s threads like this that is fueling the hype.

People who have to be the first to show everyone the craziness are just as guilty as the media.

Settle down.

Go fishing or hiking.

God’s grace is more than sufficient.

Flame away.

Hint: Commerce and transportation has always been a federal responsibility. You might try reading the Constitution some time.

” To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes;”

“To establish Post Offices and post Roads;”

“No Preference shall be given by any Regulation of Commerce or Revenue to the Ports of one State over those of another: nor shall Vessels bound to, or from, one State, be obliged to enter, clear, or pay Duties in another”

“No State shall, without the Consent of the Congress, lay any Imposts or Duties on Imports or Exports, except what may be absolutely necessary for executing it’s inspection Laws:”

Kitsap county Wa. If it’s bad anywhere, I haven’t seen it. Costco has been good overall with no shortages. Other major markets good as well. Lines at usual times similar to super bowl etc. but normal the majority of the time.

They should until things slow down, for their own health even if not for others. Handling money alone in average times you touch a lotta germ-y stuff.
