Gregory Timm made his first court appearance today and was ordered held on $500,000 bail.
Timm faces two counts of aggravated assault on a person over the age of 65, which is a second-degree felony. If convicted, Timm could be sentenced to up to 15 years in prison on each count. On the first-degree misdemeanor criminal mischief charge, which is for damage of more than $200 but less than $1,000, Timm faces up to a year in jail.

To the best of my knowledge, from what I have read of New York’s new system of bail, he would be released.
Most bail-bondsmen would require $50,000 to handle this episode. Lot of capital to come up with on a short notice. I’m guessing that it might be a week before he gets out of jail.
I wasn’t clear. The idea in NYC was that bail discriminated against the poor, which demographically makes it racist. But, it was also supposed to be that only non-violent criminals would be released (I know New York has been lax here).
You’d think attempted vehicular homicide would qualify as a violent enough crime that there would be no bail.
I would like to see the Feds step in and file additional charges here. Make sure the little jackass stays in jail until well past the election at least. My preference is that he gets a trial, conviction, and 30 years before he’s released again into society again.
For attacking Republicans? Bleep no! They’d give him a ticker tape parade.
Would have been nice to have a few patriots there to beat him within an inch of his life.

One could ask if this is markedly different from Antifa attacks on conservatives. Had this happened in Portland or NY would he be already released, or perhaps not even arrested at this point?
In Portland it is logical to believe that police would have watched with bemusement as he rammed the tent, then calmly gone on about their business.
You were clear. I would have to research some more, but a woman was violently beaten and suffered injuries very recently, and the suspect was immediately released at court. Taking that as my guide, my opinion is that this guy would also have been released.

The crime is similar, however no one was killed here. But yeah, the outrage should be the same nevertheless.
