Why There Will be no Witnesses in This Senate Trial
DB Daily Update ^ | David Blackmon

Posted on 01/25/2020 7:08:16 AM PST by EyesOfTX

Today’s Campaign Update, Part II (Because The Campaign Never Ends) Don’t count on hearing from Hunter Biden or the fake whistleblower, folks. – Adam Schiff, in his closing arguments Friday night, pounded the final nail into the coffin on the question of whether any witnesses will ultimately be called in this national disgrace of a Senate trial against President Donald Trump.

In the midst of repeating himself for about the 256th time over the past three days, ol’ Bugeyes made the mistake of tossing in something new, referring to a completely false CBS News report, citing only a “Trump confidant” – which could mean the Mooch – alleging that GOP senators were warned “Vote against the president and your head will be on a pike.” Many witnesses present in the Senate chamber said that audible gasps could be heard throughout the room, including from some of Pencil Neck’s own House colleagues:

Igor Bobic ✔ @igorbobic Braun says Schiff’s closing was “very melodramatic” and there were audible gasps among his colleagues when he mentioned the “head on a pike” report

82 8:06 PM - Jan 24, 2020 Twitter Ads info and privacy 95 people are talking about this

More to the point, Schiff’s reference to an obvious piece of despicable fake news pissed off some of the key GOP RINOs he had supposedly been trying to influence to vote in favor of calling witnesses during this trial, including Lisa Murkowski…:

Scott Wong ✔ @scottwongDC Murkowski & other Rs not happy with Schiff citing CBS “head on a pike” story:

“Head on a pike ... that’s where he lost me. I think he did fine until he overreached” - @lisamurkowski

47 8:17 PM - Jan 24, 2020 Twitter Ads info and privacy 57 people are talking about this …and Susan Collins:

Manu Raju ✔ @mkraju “That’s not true,” Susan Collins said several times on the floor, shaking her head when Schiff cited a news report saying WH warned senators that a vote against Trump means “your head will be on a pike.” Risch also said aloud: “That’s not true.” Cotton laughed when Schiff said it

4,446 8:07 PM - Jan 24, 2020 Twitter Ads info and privacy 2,929 people are talking about this Now, Collins and Murkowski are perpetually malleable as they tirelessly do their best to remain “open-minded” to siding with Democrats on an array of issues, but Schiff just handed them an ironclad reason to hold firm with their own Party for once. Now, when they go home to face their constituents and are asked why they voted not to call witnesses, they can simply recite Pencil Neck’s outright lying and utter lack of good faith as their justification.

Of course, the reality is that the Democrats in the Senate have been bluffing about calling witnesses all along. Doing so would prolong this disgrace for many weeks, given that any subpoenas would inevitably be challenged in federal court, and nobody wants that, not even Chuck Schumer’s imaginary, chair-stealing friend.

The senators involved in the presidential primaries – The Commie, Lieawatha, Amy Klobuchar and some guy from Colorado named Bennett – most certainly don’t want to spend several months tied up in the Senate chamber in what they all know to be a sham impeachment trial. So there was never really going to be any “deal” on calling witnesses to begin with, something Schumer basically admitted in a rare moment of candor on Thursday.

For Schumer and his Democrat senate caucus, this sham trial has been far more about establishing narratives for the Fall general election campaigns against vulnerable GOP senators than it has been about actually winning any votes or calling any witnesses. That has been clear from the start.

Given all of this, here’s the timetable we should anticipate as this impeachment scam winds down:

Starting today, the Trump defense team will present a very detailed rebuttal case; That rebuttal case will not consume the defense’s entire 24 hours of floor time – expect Trump’s team to wrap up either Sunday evening or early afternoon on Monday, much to the relief of the exhausted senators; The defense will file a motion to dismiss immediately following its closing arguments; The Democrat House Managers will file an alternative motion to call additional witnesses; At least 52 GOP senators, and possibly all 53 of them, will vote to dismiss without calling any witnesses. Democrats Doug Jones of Alabama and/or Joe Manchin of West Virginia will likely join them; The entire disgusting and disgraceful process will be blessedly over by COB on Thursday.

And then the Democrats – with the full support of the nation’s corrupt news media – will move onto the next scam in their never-ending coup d’etat.

They will never stop, until the voters stop them.

That is all.

Have the voters woken up?

I wonder.

Because there are no witnesses - it’s all made up.

His presentation reminds me of Pelosi’s insulting anti-Republican speech prior to the vote on the bank bailout bill in 2008. She wanted the bill to fail and to be able to blame it on Republicans which was very effective as it helped to turn the polls pro Obama.

I wonder if the Dems are doing this on purpose because they have nothing and now there’s only two outcomes:

1. Dem complaints are met and they get all the witnesses they want and they still have no case.

2. Reps vote down the witnesses so the Dems can say the only reason their case failed is because of a Rep cover up. Also Collins opponent gets to argue she was complicit in the coverup.

It’s curious to me how the Dem media complex is reporting that the Dems lost Collins and Murakowski. That’s not normal. And it doesn’t make any sense unless that’s what they want to happen.

Remember this is the team that created the idea of obstruction out of another fake investigation.

Why There SHOULD BE be no Witnesses in This Senate Trial...

Because there is NO CASE. There was never any reasonable suspicion or probable cause to start this asinine thing to begin with. It is a hoax and unconstitutional.

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures [ie. investigations], shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
Amendment 4 [Search and Seizure - ie. Investigations]

CASE DISMISSED!!!

” Schiff citing CBS “head on a pike” story”

So this was an actual story CBS ran. A total fabrication ran for the express purpose of Schiff being able to use it. I thought Schiff made it up but this makes it even worse. Now Schiff can blame CBS and the uniformed will hear the accusation over and over.

This is exactly right. By not dismissing this nonsense right away, the GOP has effectively legitimized this travesty — and so the circus of the absurd will fold its tent only to move on to the next stop.

A dangerous predcedent has now been set that says NO MATTER HOW UNCONSTITUTIONAL OR ABSURD a completely fake impeachement is it will be treated as legitmate by the U.S. senate. Terrible precedent that will surely unleash more mischief in the future, if not guarantee it.

THANK YOU!!!!!! You get it.

This is the same thing I have been saying but some on this board seem to think the GOP senate is doing a good job by legitimizing this hoax and travesty. They senate should have dismissed it on day one.

Told Liberal in-laws weeks ago:

"Democrats don't have the guts to allow the witnesses the GOP would call and they have no assurance their witnesses would help their fishing expedition."

I thought they had Sundays off from the trial. If so, they won’t be wrapping up until Tuesday evening.

As long as GOP insists on these 3 witnesses and that they go first, there will be no Dems willing to call witnesses.

Adam Schiff, Eric Ciramilla, Joe Biden.

Problems for the Dems is that if they do that then it’s even more possible that the Republicans will have to be solidly in the Trump Camp.

I just can’t see how they can sit on a fence and be never trumper when the media has them in their crosshairs like that, not unless they know their only support is through leveraging the power of a Trump campaign.

If you find someone stupid enough to witness something that did now happen they would be soon in prison.

It is surprising that Schiff would make a dramatic claim, knowing the “jurors” are in a position to KNOW he is lying. His gambit rules out speculation that conviction and removal were ever his end game.

Showing yourself to be a hateful, vindictive, dishonest liar willing to wreck the US for personal infamy in a snit of partisan game-playing has to be the most idiotic “strategy” ever concocted. This is all about obstructing Trump’s ability to govern and influencing the next election. Schiff needs to be tarred, feathered, and marooned on a small, snake-infested island where his skills would be appreciated.

What do I get for a prize? My country back? I’ll take it.

:)

Posted earlier but worth repeating I think...

I have little interest in watching something that should have been dismissed and trashed at the front door. Even the eloquent lawyers for Trump like Sekulow don’t seem to get that without reasonable suspicion or probable cause, there was no legitimate basis to initiate an investigation.

Beyond that, there is no genuine dispute about a material fact, and, thus a dismissal or a directed verdict is called for.

The Left has put on a Jacobean Reign of Terror with their kangaroo court like some third-world dictatorship somewhere.

God bless and may God bless and keep America.

Schiff's district includes Hollywood. He tried to leverage
his political position to sell a screenplay......but Hollywood wasnt buying.
I kinda warmed-up to Hollywood after reading this:

Adam Schiff Writes Screenplays On The Side

This week’s Fun Fact comes courtesy of Rep. Adam Schiff, who shared in his New Yorker profile that not only is he a movie buff (and often quotes “The Big Lebowski”), but also he writes screenplays on the side. There seemed to be more than a tinge of regret in the California congressman’s voice when he recalled the story of his first screenplay, a pre-Holocaust story called “Remnant.” “I had an agent at William Morris tell me it was good but no one would want to see it — too depressing,” he explained.“Then ‘Schindler’s List’ came out, and I was, like, ‘Come on!’” He wrote the next one while a prosecutor, a murder-mystery called “Minotaur,” which he said was "almost accepted" by Hollywood standards. But, he has high hopes for his third. “It’s a spy drama,” he said. “That one is a work in progress.”
