Don't you think that it's weird that the prince kisses Snow White without her permission?

How about Huma, or that socialist/communist from NY? The thing is, I don’t give a rat’s a$$ about any of these wenchs, so I don’t care to come up with any more examples, but I am sure you can.

I think it was ABT, too.

Believe it or not, but if you give the Heimlich to a person without consent it is considered battery under most nursing home and hospital guidelines. If a person has a DNR you are instructed to not help them if they are choking.

Disney has mucked up just about every single full length cartoon that studio has EVER produced! Fantasia is the exception!

Read the original stories; heck, even read the cleaned up ones for the kiddos, and/or see the Bunin Puppets's versions. :-)

Pssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssst....Sleeping Beauty gets a splinter in her finger, from a spindle; ergo the Heimlich Maneuver would have been utterly USELESS !

You're confusing Sleeping Beauty with SNOW WHITE.

implied consent. That’s what they call it in First Aid classes.

I took a class in German, around 1970. Our textbook included quite a few old German fairy tales.

I was struck by the fact that they all had unhappy endings. Probably a sign of hard times.

BTW, I failed the class.

The reason I think it was ABT is because I had always wanted to see a Balanchine ballet; and was a little disappointed when my boyfriend at the time bought tickets for the ABT. But I wasn't disappointed at all with the production.

I remember that in my childhood Disney book of Sleeping Beauty, Briar Rose had a dress that changed color; I thought that was pretty cool.

I think it was this one, from the late '50s:

Sorry that you failed your German class. :-(

Many of the Grimm's Fairy and Household Tales are like Aesop's story, in that they are meant to TEACH morality/ethics. A very good example of that is THE FISERMAN'S WIFE. Yes, that ends badly, but for an extremely GOOD reason!

OTOH...most of the fairy tales end happily for the "good"/nice people; even though there are gruesome bits in most of them.

Almost every nation and culture has a "CINDERELLA" type story; some countries have several different versions of it.

The ancient Greek & Roman myth of EROS & PSYCHE is a combination of Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast, which predates every other fairy tale, EVERYWHERE, of that kind.

Yes because it is so erotic and appealing for a woman to ask permission

As I posted earlier...THE DISNEY STUDIOS MUCKED UP JUST ABOUT EVERY SINGLE FILM LENGTH CARTOON THEY PUT THEIR HANDS TO AND RUINED THE ORIGINALS!

Yes, I'm a "purist" and even as a small child, I was upset at what Disney did to me beloved fairy tales.

No denying it...Balanchine was a GENIUS and his ballets are all amazing!

OTOH...there's nothing to sniff at/complain about the ABT's staging and choreography. And their '80s SLEEPING BEAUTY was beautifully done.

"Bachelorette number two is a cape wearing girl from the land of fancy. Although she lives with seven other men, she's not easy. Just kiss her dead, frozen lips and find out what a live wire she is. Come on. Give it up for Snow White!”

I was a Classics major although I eventually changed it to Geography.

“Cupid and Psyche” was one of my favorite Greek myths. I had never thought about it but it had some elements of both Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty. In fact so much that I suspect they were derived from it.

You're confusing Sleeping Beauty with SNOW WHITE.

Just about everyone posting here is talking about Sleeping Beauty, but the princess actually mentioned in the excerpt is Snow White.

No one’s going to get kissed in the future if you have to ask.
“May I kiss you?”
“Why don’t we just go for coffee instead.”
