Teen Vogue glorifies Karl Marx – the reactions are what you might expect

Teen Vogue recently published a controversial article titled, “Who is Karl Marx: Meet the Anti-Capitalist Scholar,” and promoted it on Twitter, saying that “The political philosopher turned 200-years-old on May 5, but his ideas can still teach us about the past and present.”

Author Danielle Corcione vilifies “rich people” and “bosses” in the piece, while gushing that through The Communist Manifesto, Marx “inspired millions of people to resist oppressive political leaders and spark political revolutions all over the world.”

Corcione interviewed a high school teacher and former professor about how they incorporate Marx’s teachings into their class curriculum.

Former Drexel University professor George Ciccariello-Maher is quoted as saying: “When I teach Marx, it’s got a lot to do with questions of how to think critically about history. Marx says we live under capitalism [but] capitalism has not always existed. It’s something that came into being and something that, as a result, just on a logical level, could disappear, could be overthrown, could be abolished, could be irrelevant.

“There’s this myth of the free market, but Marx shows very clearly that capitalism emerged through a state of violence.”

Conservative commentator Ben Shapiro responded on Twitter by saying of Marx, “His horrifying and stupid ideas led to the deaths of 100 million human beings and the misery of billions of others. Saved you a click.”

National Review’s Andrew Stuttaford remarked on the Teen Vogue article: “To deny that Karl Marx was, at times, a startlingly original thinker, would be nutty. To deny that he was, in many respects, one of the most lethal of a long line of millenarian preachers, is to embrace ignorance. And to deny that his work inspired the death of maybe one hundred million victims is something altogether more sinister.

“Marx may or may not have anticipated the scale of slaughter to come, but he understood perfectly well that mass murder was part of the package.”

Teen Vogue has a number of articles relating to politics and economics. Last month, the magazine published an article explaining “What ‘Capitalism’ is and how it affects people.”

In that work, Marx was cited for emphasizing capitalism’s “capacity to dehumanize workers.” Author Kim Kelly also slammed former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in the article, saying that her “pro-capitalism stance is said to have devastated the British working class.

And hey, under their theory, if you get a force together strong enough, you can take it from them. For your comrades and those others in need of, and more deserving of course...

Certifiably insane. Put her in a padded room.

I have the DVD “The Admiral” an excellent excellent film!
Who would have that the great leader of the Whites would end up on a Russian film portrayed as a tragic hero (in Greek tragic style!)instead of as a one dimensional devil.

Teen Vogue is the magazine that has the bimbo Lauren Duca on it's staff. She was on Tucker Carlson's program, and truly personifies the sobriquet Bimbo.

The Teacher’s Union made Marx Great Again.

Public unions must be outlawed. The tax payers are not represented.

Karl Marx HATED the middle class.
He wanted them DEAD.
He wanted their blood FLOWING in the streets.

But you middle class Marxists just love your socialism.

It's hard to know where to begin with Marx in the face of people who love him but haven't read him. These are proceeding on the faith of small children that their Authority cannot be wrong. Suffice it to say that in the Manifesto he and Engels make certain rock-solid predictions practically none of which came true. In fact, by the 1860's, when he wrote Capital, Marx had to modify those predictions into the form "haven't happened yet but will", a form that has persisted for more than a century. For example, no, the industrial proletariat did not become more illiterate, more "immiserated", but literate and prosperous even within Marx's lifetime. Profits for the capitalists did not go down, they went up. The working class found itself in the role of petit bourgeoisie first, and through union pension funds, major capitalists, among the highest holders of common stock in America. When you approach a factory these days the first thing you run into is the parking lot, filled with automobiles that are possessed by the working class (a true proletariat cannot do this) and many of which purchased on credit (a true proletariat cannot do this either). It's ALL WRONG.

There is, as well, the silent but telling evidence that Marxist economists are strictly hot-house plants in academia for the simple reason that any company run on those precepts goes broke. We see in Venezuela what happens when an entire country is run on those precepts. And still they believe. We are dealing with people who pride themselves as rational, believers in "scientific" socialism, and they're the most irrational people on the planet.

Irony is lost on a bunch of millennial idiots who are part of a multi-media corporate empire raking in huge profits in a market economy selling a worthless, salacious rag to an equally stupid bunch of millennial idiots who in a real Marxist/socialist system would be put to a firing squad or a gulag as being a bunch of spoiled cosmopolitan degenerates.

I can see it. Young people basking in the luxury and safety provided by their parents, thinking that wealth redistribution is a cool idea.

Reminds me of those filthy hippies in San Fran denouncing capitalism and materialism and "the Man" while begging food from store owners and restaurants. And while begging for money from the very "man" they held in such contempt.

Yeah, I can see it.

The Khmer Rouge humanized them so well...

See how individual they all are?

How do you tell a communist?
Well, it's someone who reads Marx and Lenin.
And how do you tell an anti-Communist?
It's someone who understands Marx and Lenin.

Socialists claim to want ownership of the resources by teh people.

Today, either directly or indirectly (through pension funds and organizations), over 50 percent of us are stockholders — meaning, owners of at least a small piece of major companies.

IOW, the people own the resources. So why are the socialists so unhappy about it?

Let’s also not forget that he and Engels created that whole “Communist” schtick specifically to reenact Robespierre’s reign of terror and make it even more of a bloodletting disaster than before. That bit needs stressing, especially when there are too many people enamored with the French Revolution as it is.
