POTUS Should Tweet This (and Mean It)…(Vanity)

"Today, I’m giving our DOJ and its leaders notice to comply with all requests from Congress for documents regarding (insert various subject matters) in response to its constitutional authority to provide oversight. Because our DOJ has been operating outside of our constitutional framework and I fear will lose all moral authority to faithfully administer justice and obey our laws, they must provide the requested documents within two weeks or there will be dramatic changes at the department."

Separately, regarding Mueller, I had some time ago suggested (here: https://mononymous1.wordpress.com/) this approach to dealing with him:

(14) When Mueller asked to “interview” POTUS, shouldn’t his lawyers have argued that he would agree to the interview if the DOJ rules that Mueller is actually performing an investigation ethically, per CFR §600.7(c)*? In the current climate, given what’s known about the activities of the FBI/DOJ and in light of item 5 (above), it’d be astonishing if they make this claim.

TOPICS: Government; Miscellaneous
KEYWORDS: doj; rosenstein; sessions
Yes, I know POTUS doesn't need my advice but it'd seem to me that this would be one way to publicly put on notice EVERYONE involved that Rosenstein, Sessions, et al would be fired if they don't get this done. I am assuming, of course, that POTUS has no reasons for not wanting this cooperation.

I thought Twitter was only 140 characters, which is why I don’t do it.

Twitter doubled the character count to an incredible 280 characters last fall.

Now there is no reason for you to not join in on the fun there ;)

This is what Mueller wants. Trump needs to stay the hell away from this. Congress should move forward with the impeachment of Rosenstein.

It would be tricky for Congress to block the appointment of a new AG if the previous one was fired for not cooperating with Congress.

Not that they wouldn’t try to do it still, but it might make it harder to justify at least.

I didn’t say he should fire Mueller.

I still have an account I created many years ago, but haven’t used since the week I created it. I’ll have to check it out now. :)

The president should not agree to be interviewed by Mueller.

However, if he does agree to the interview, he should demand the same ground-rules as Comey gave to Hillary in her interview before the election.

Not under oath, no recording or written transcript, softball questions only and limit it to no more than one hour.

And whatever Trump says, he needs to preface all of his comments with, "Of course, I didn't not INTEND to break any laws". Comey claims he let Hillary off the hook because she didn't intend to break the law.

And finally, if I were Donald Trump, I would demand to see a copy of the letter or memo that was written before the actual interview, exonerating him of any wrong-doing ahead of time. Just like Comey did for Hillary. He had his mind made up to let her go free before even speaking to her.

Otherwise, I'd signal to Mueller that the big-middle finger being directed at him is all they're going to get from Trump.

Mueller has come up empty-handed so he wants to pepper Trump with questions to catch him in a process crime of lying.

Do not cooperate with him, Mr. Trump.

This is the key reason for doing it.

I agree but I can’t see the other side agreeing to those conditions - those are for extra-special, “more equal than others” people.

Well, the "other side" doesn't have to agree to his demands.

If they don't like the terms he sets down, the same ones that Hillary was afforded, they just don't get the interview.

Mueller is trying to find a crime to prove where none exists.

If I was the President, I would just let them dangle out there and force them to make the next move. He should hold his ground.

I’m sure that Mueller is being paid for his efforts. If he were being paid for results, the whole thing might be looking different.

I don't disagree with that assessment.

But I think he's got a big bonus coming if he can produce specific results and nail Trump for something, anything that the democRATS can hang their hats on this fall and to use to start impeachment process in the House if they can win it back.

But with the marginal results he has shown so far on Trump, that bonus won't be in his last paycheck.

As scary as it sounds, that Mueller will subpoena Trump if he doesn't cooperate in sitting down to talk voluntarily, I think Trump still holds all the cards.

Mueller is down to trying to get process crimes committed by asking the president gotcha questions to catch him in a "lie".

All Trump has to do is refuse to meet with him. If subpoenaed, he can challenge it all the way to the Supremes.

He can also do what everybody wants him to do and that is to fire Rosenstein and Mueller if he doesn't tell Mueller the show is over and stop the fishing expedition.

Tell Mueller he has one month to produce his report and results. It's been going on for a year now and still nothing. Congress also found nothing. Very unlikely he'll happen upon some rock to look under at this late date to find something.

Mueller started this witch hunt with no crime and he is still desperately looking for a crime before this ends.

Trump is the chief executive and he can fire anybody he wants in the executive branch.

Anybody.
