An excellent home defense rifle
An excellent rifle for kids
An excellent rifle for us old guys
An excellent rifle for women.
Reasons why it is so popular...
Eleven people in a mobile home at the same time - I’m amazed the situation didn’t end with hand-to-hand combat.
In any event, the residents did a good job defending their home, although I suspect it may now resemble a block of swiss cheese.
Yup, many shot miss because of inadequate training. Testosterone Tony shooting his Glock 17 with a 33 round mag chooses to spray and pray a barrage of JHPs that he hits something other than his wife and children.
Never had an AR until MSNBC said I should not have one.
It is a hoot to shoot.
Rests nicely next to my 870 next to my bed.
We have an inalienable right to be armed with weapons that are more effective, or just as effective as those weapons that have the potential of being used against us as in home invasions
The government or state restricting how many bullets a rifle can hold, or restricting the use of all semi-automatic weapons, is putting the lives of law abiding citizens at risk- The enemy- the criminals, enemies domestic and foreign will be using superior firepower against us as a result, and our government is neglecting it’s sworn duty to protect our right to the most effective means possible for self protection
Excellent weapon, the AR-15. Though I’d rather a chamber loaded 12 gauge buckshot for home defense
Blood I can clean up.
With a sawed-off shotgun you only need to re-plaster the walls a little and then paint over.
Knife.
Big and sharp.
Drywall is cheap.

I hope she blasts away at all that tainted Romaine lettuce!
No mag in the AR15 pictured.
The AR loaded with frangible ammunition might be a good choice. Its designed to shatter on impact so as to minimize the possibility of over penetrating.
If a shotgun is your choice Id recommend 7-1/2 birdshot for inside the house. At 20 feet its basically a column of lead pellets about 2 inches in diameter.
Best,

In this day and age, you have to consider multiple threats.
Here’s another article where a homeowner’s son, using an AR, eliminated three subhumans who tried an invasion. It includes pictures of them and their getaway driver.
You mean what I see on TV isn't REAL??? They don't surround the perp with guns pointed at him in a nice circular firing squad??? The perp when hit doesn't fly backward??? I'm stunned! (do I really need the sarcasm tag?)
An AR is a fine weapon, but I am a little concerned about shooting 30 rounds from one in a mobile home, unless one carefully chooses the ammo to be frangible ammo. Most mobile homes I have seen have pretty thin walls and are packed pretty close to each other in mobile home parks.
I would be very concerned about FMJ ammo over-penetrating and going into a neighbors trailer possibly harming someone.
Still a home invasion calls for drastic measures, but one of the bed rock rules of firearms safety is to know what is behind your target. A firefight in a mobile home doesn’t sound like an ideal situation to be too strict on firearm safety, but I would hope that the person who had the AR, choose their ammo carefully.
Lots of tests on the web....
Bottomline- 556 soft/jhp are awesome on tissue, but comparatively mild compared to pistol or shotgun slug and buck. Bird shot at close range is a slug for interior wall penetration concerns.
I like 40 grain Hornady varmint bullets, tipped or not, for my first 10 rounds in the mag, then 75 or 77 grain JHPs-
They all will defeat a Level 2A or even 3A soft armor, which is an added bonus in this day and age.
Fro a 16 inch carbine, you have an accurate go to weapon for zero- 200 m, plus the ability to add optics or other useful gizmos. Mine wear a 2 MOA dot 1x optic, and back up irons. Sometimes a flash light and vert front hand grip.
