Trump administration seeks to open Harvard admissions files

The Trump administration on Friday urged a federal judge to allow for the public disclosure of records related to Harvard’s admissions practices, as part of a lawsuit accusing the elite school of bias against Asian-American applicants.

The Justice Department sided with a group suing Harvard for allegedly discriminatory admissions practices. The DOJ told the judge to reject the university’s attempts to shield from public view many case documents that it claims are confidential.

I think the University of California is the worst offender discriminating against Asians.

Here is an old article with some numbers about U.C. and Asian admissions:

I suspect Trump might have a motive other than investigating group discrimination however.

If you are a private setting...I’d tell the government to get their nose out of your admissions business. If you are a public setting, how exactly are you going to deal with kids with fake high school degrees (A-plus-plus) who really aren’t capable of handling college level courses? The SAT tests are the only way to reset the whole pattern.

But if you go by SAT scores...I’m guessing that a heck of a lot of Asian kids and maybe Indian kids would easily rate ahead of these suburban kids with fake high school education certificates.

Saudi and Chinese students do not want liberals to allow terrorists and violent idiot thugs picked out of Chicago as Community organizers around, and I do not blame them.

Harvard talks globalism and diversity but to liberals it means going at the bottom of the barrel to set up fake classes that are in fact political militant studies for losers and future manipulated demoralized Obama puppets

Must you ask? Harvard. Obama. Nationality. Who paid. Test scores. Club / association memberships.

Bias against whites and perhaps even Jews will turn out to be at least as dramatic at Harvard as bias against Asians, I bet.

Keep your eye out for untimely passings in the Harvard admissions office, and maybe at Columbia Law too.

political correctness. How this will expose the underbelly of the academic beast that are pushing our college students to the radical left.

The other thought was it must be race related. Asians predominantly tilt left. Yet the left wants to limit the number of highly educated ivy league asians. What’s collective reasoning here as I don’t think there is a deep conspiracy about it, just a common understanding that doesn’t even need to be talked about.

But US taxpayers are heavily funding most private colleges too. And, we stick our noses into the hiring of private businesses, etc., already.

What’s sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.

This is in a lot of ways reminiscent of Harvard’s “Jewish quota” back in the day. The SATs were actually introduced as a leveling mechanism to, for example, give smart, rural, flyover country kids a chance to go to the colleges of the elite, along with the the coastal private school kids.

This on a lot of levels was a very good thing. But in some ways it also diminished the emphasis on morality and moral development at such colleges, which generally had got their starts as religious institutions.

In some ways, they tried to swing the pendulum back toward that and away from a straight brain race by starting to look to well-rounded kids who had put time into volunteering, for example. But of course, the elite used that opening and excuse to buy their kids an advantage for having founded some sort of third-world charity after having spent a summer volunteering there—and other such ridiculousness.

“Asian” covers 2/3rds of the human race.

A Japanese or Korean person has pretty much nothing in common with an Indian or Pakistani, yet they are both “Asian”.

And the conflation of volunteering with a virtue such as charity is also a problem.

Volunteering at the vet or at the Sierra Club neither indicates nor counter-indicates a love of one's fellow men. But this is lumped in with teaching literacy under the umbrella of volunteering.

“Different spanks for different ranks.”

Just a guess, but Harvard probably gets serious amounts of feddy-bux in research grants, probably not so much for student aid. The school administration there may not like it should that kinda money disappear.

They might have to spend their endowment money to finance LGBTQRSTUV studies! Such horror! */sarc/*

It is something that economically comfortable kids can best afford to do.

I do think that things like conservation and animal rescue can be worthy of support, however—loving one’s fellow man but hating the rest of creation isn’t a great look either.

Didn’t Obama claim to go to Harvard?

Oh man, this could get quite interesting.
