Putin: Communist ideology similar to Christianity, Lenin’s body like saintly relics
Russia Today ^ | January 14, 2018

Maybe I’ll say something that someone might dislike, but that’s the way I see it,” Putin said in an interview for the documentary Valaam, an excerpt of which was broadcast on Russia 1. “First of all, faith has always accompanied us, becoming stronger every time our country, our people, have been through hard times.

“There were those years of militant atheism when priests were eradicated, churches destroyed, but at the same time a new religion was being created. Communist ideology is very similar to Christianity, in fact: freedom, equality, brotherhood, justice – everything is laid out in the Holy Scripture, it’s all there. And the code of the builder of communism? This is sublimation, it’s basically just an excerpt from the Bible, nothing new was invented.”

Putin went further by comparing the Communists’ attitude to the Bolshevik leader Lenin to the veneration of saints in Christianity. “Look, Lenin was put in a mausoleum. How is this different from the relics of saints for Orthodox Christians and just for Christians? When they say that there’s no such tradition in Christianity, well, how come, go to Athos and take a look, there are relics of the saints there, and we have holy relics here,” Putin concluded.

After Lenin died in 1924, his body was embalmed and put on display in a mausoleum in Red Square, Moscow.

Putin’s words were music to the ears of Communist Party members. “I think these words of the president very effectively and reasonably smooth out the acute angles around the theme of the mausoleum,” Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Ivan Melnikov said...

Earlier this year, Gennadiy Zyuganov, the head of the Russian Communist Party, said Putin had promised him that as long as he remains president, Lenin’s body would remain in the mausoleum in Red Square.

They celebrate Lenin while tomorrow we celebrate the Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. - who, while hardly the jingoistic capitalist, made one of the strongest Christian cases against communism.

"No Christian can be a communist because communism leaves out God. It regards religion psychologically as wishful thinking, regards religion intellectually as the product of fear and ignorance. And it regards religion historically as an instrument serving the ends of exploiters. This is what communism teaches about religion. And so, in a real sense, we disagree with this because we believe that history is moved not by economic forces but by spiritual forces. We believe that there is a God in this universe, a God who loves his children, and a God who works through history for the salvation of man."

"The other historic and great religions of the world such as Judaism, Mohammedanism, Buddhism, and Hinduism may stand as alternatives to Christianity. But for the most formidable competitor that Christianity faces in the world today, we must look to communism."

Except real Christianity doesn’t have “relics”.

About that immigration myth...

“While Europe and the U.S. tighten border controls, former Soviet states are encouraged by Moscow to send their workers.”

“The nation has 11 million foreigners, many without visas and from largely Muslim, Central Asian countries.”

“Russia is experiencing a huge deficit of workforce,” explains Andrey Movchan. “We badly need cheap labor that cannot be found inside the country.” Immigrants clean city streets and maintain huge residential buildings that dot the skyline. They play a key role in manufacturing, retail, and service sectors. In the restaurant industry, kitchen staff from countries like Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Georgia stay for years, sending most of their money home.

“If you take out the migrants, who comprise 15 percent of the Russian workforce, it will be impossible to replace them...”

(The article doesn’t mention the Russian demand for North Korean slave labor.)

Its not that weird an idea.
I believe it was Chesterton that called communism (of at least an idealized sort) a Christian heresy. I.e., pure altruism without God.

Yet again, you are going to have to go explain, in this case to a bunch of Greek Monks on Mt. Athos, that they aren’t Christian. A very tough sell.

Christianity is God’s truth; communism is man’s “wisdom” and lies. They are actually not similar at all.

Christianity: Thou shalt not covet anything of thy neighbor’s.

Communism: The state covets and will forcibly take all your private property.

You either have a relationship with your creator or not.

Sticks, bones, and rags won’t change that.

The irony in all this is that if this unrepentant piece of communist crap had said this in the days of the old Soviet Union he'd have been shot. Or at the very least sent to a gulag.

Bolsheviks simply took a bunch of old Tsarist traditions and cloaked them with a Hammer and Sickle.

Instead of holding up pictures of Religious figures in the parades, they replaced them with pictures of Politburo members.

Nothing altruistic about abolishing the family, private property, religion and national borders. That is what communism is actually about.

Not to mention, Lenin’s USSR was the first political entity in the 20th century to introduce abortion on demand and legalize homosexuality. Altruistic?

Communism is about the removal of personal freedom...Christianity is about the support/permission of personal human freedom even to the extent that it destroys eternity for human children of God.

Christ went to the Cross to restore personal freedom via Salvation and Righteousness.

Someone who is a strong Christian needs to meet with Vlad and explain to him the fundamentals of the Cross.

Buddhism has all sorts of relics too.

Putin is referring to various forms of Catholicism, not Christianity as a whole.

The thing is Stalin, had no use for Lenin and Trotsky’s “Internationalism”, he was a hardcore Russian Nationalist who Russified the entire Soviet Union.

“My object in life is to dethrone God and destroy capitalism.”

— Karl Marx
Sounds more like Satanism than Christianity. Satan tried to dethrone God.

Um...he should make an appointment with a priest to get straightened out on these ideas. And the incorrupt relics of the saints, unlike Lenin’s, are the work of God and not of wax artists.

Very much. Communism is a perversion of Christianity in large part with the emphasis on perversion.
