Build The Wall! Illegal Immigration on Mexico Border Surges Back to Obama-era Levels!

According to the latest data released on Friday, illegal immigration on Mexico border has surged unexpectedly, and it’s now back to Obama-era levels, which means that President Trump’s gains with regard to border crossings are beginning to wear off; thus building a “big, beautiful wall” should be a top priority for the new administration.

Last month alone, almost 40,000 “border jumpers” were caught as they were trying to enter the United States illegally, and that makes for a 12% surge in illegal border crossings compared to October, and, take a load of this: more than 2x the numbers from March and April, when the POTUS bragged about his accomplishments. Moreover, there has been observed a significant rise in families crossing the border illegally together, a 45% increase in November respectively, as well as a surge in unaccompanied minors, i.e. a 26% increase last month alone.

Thinking it’s just safer trying to cross the desert in the cooler months.

>It won’t stop until we build the wall!

The wall is but a band-aid of the symptom.

The FIRST step (that will kill *many* birds) is to restore\adhere our 4th/5th & 13th A. Rights by dismantling the Welfare State.

2nd would be enforcing the existing Laws (especially the plain English of the 14th A.)

THEN see what else needs correcting.

Said it before and will say it again: Everyone needs to STOP debating/fighting-the-battle from the Leftists ROE (they are NOT ‘illegal immigrants’, it’s NOT ‘govt funding’, it’s NOT ‘free’ ABC, it’s NOT A1S8 authorized XYZ...)

Allowing this to continue as long as it has is an act of aggression by Mexico against the US. There’s no other way to look at this. Mexico doesn’t respect our common border, and the Mexican government should be held accountable. We should be making it expensive for Mexico to allow this.

We should charge them for INS costs along our southern border, for the costs of providing medical care and other services to illegal immigrants, for all of the prosecution and incarceration costs for jailing illegal immigrants who commit crimes in the US, etc. etc. They would likely refuse to pay, but then I would take the money out of the remittances that are sent to them from the US. Illegal immigration is in the Mexican government’s best interest, and will continue until it no longer is beneficial to them.

> Posse Comitatus is a legal obstacle. <

Interesting point there. And it would be one that the open-border types would jump on. But it can be fairly argued that troops on the border on not doing police work, but national defense work.

I guess if Trump tried it, some federal judge somewhere would issue a stop order. Then lawyers would argue about it for years...as more and more illegals slip through.

We also had Eisenhower's Operation Wetback.

In 1964, the Bracero Program, which allowed Mexican agricultural workers to work legally in the U.S. on a seasonal basis, came to an end.

Less than a year after the end of the Bracero Program, the Mexican Government launched the Border Industrialization Program (BIP) or the Maquiladora Program, to solve the problem of rising unemployment along the border. The maquiladoras became attractive to US firms due to the availability of cheap labor, devaluations of the peso and favorable changes in US customs laws. In 1985, maquiladoras overtook tourism as the largest source of foreign exchange, and since 1996 they have been the second largest industry in Mexico behind the petroleum industry.

If we can build thousands of miles of walls along our highways so headlights and noise
don’t interfere with the neighborhoods, why can’t we build the wall to protect our borders?

***************

The interstates take into account purchasing enough ROW so they can build that wall. It takes serious planning, land acquisition, etc most of which hasn’t been
done to my knowledge. The States west of Texas aren’t as much of a problem as it
is along the Texas border. I think there is even a 60’ ROW for the feds along those
state’s border. But that doesn’t exist along the Texas border and the Rio Grande.

And all of those highways were built using eminent domain, what makes the border wall any different? Easements can easily be placed on those properties and the land owners would be compensated for that easement as well. Heck in most cases, it probably already exists.

We need a wall and enforce the law as well.

No land owner will be “punished”. Easements would be bought and they would be compensated for it. No different then building a highway. Same thing was done when all the interstates got built. Even local roads. Its not like we are taking the land and giving it to a luxury condo developer.

I understand that the never trumpers and democrats, one in the same, don’t want the wall built, cause it would be a campaign promise kept.

Shooting them as they jump the wall would be more like waving a magic wand.

Why is it okay that the poor of Mexico can invade the USA commit murder and mayhem - destroy our welfare programs, drain our food banks, suppress wages, spread disease, do crappy yard work - and we can't shoot them coming across the border?

In fact shooting invaders is now called inhumane and how can I be so insensitive?

Taking care of the poor of Mexico is a good thing? Boo no its terrible!

Mexico is a failed, narco state pressure cooker - it needs to be forced to explode by not allowing them to offload their social contract on to the U.S.A

It wouldn't take long for that message to get back to Mexico. Mexico is a corrupt society made up of corrupt people rich and poor alike - they might be nice and have good food but its still corrupt. Its long past time for all illegals aliens but especially illegal alien Mexicans to be deported.

Until the wall is up guns are the answer. Stop the Invasion President Trump - now! Mow your own lawn! Ban the Tuba!

Not in Texas per se. Texas came into the Union as a Republic. The Republic
owned the land up to the border. Nothing provided for an easement along the
Rio Grande to the Feds. In the Western states an easement was provided for
when the area became part the USA.

The internet can provide you info about all this if you care to spend some
time digging.

It will get worked out but it will take time, etc.

General Kelly seemed to have things under control until he was installed as President Trump’s chief of staff.
Interim DHS head Elaine Duke was sidetracked by myriad hurricane relief efforts.
And, I gather new Secretary Kristjen Nielsen is rather an open borders, pro amnesty advocate. Hope I am mistaken by that impression.

One thing is abundantly clear, there ought to be NO break for the DACA dreamers without full funding for construction of thee vital border WALL!!!

A lot of this traffic is driven by forces south of the border. That is, if the Mexican media say crossing the border is easy and jobs are plentiful; or they say that things are better in the US, and times are hard in Mexico, immigration will increase.

It is also increased directly by the actions of the Mexican government to stimulate border crossing.

And last but not least, fear that the wall is going up, so it is “now or never” to get across.

Good point. But Trump has the authority to put federal troops on the border. Why not do that?

With .50 cal machine guns with orders to shoot any person coming across the border illegally.

Wanna bet that number drops to zero quick? Just a few sacrificial illegal crossers, best to make sure they are men for optics, then let the MSM have their fits while publicizing it. Problem solved until that border wall is built with gunners posted at random know illegal crossing points permanently. Enforce e-verify then start going to small jobs where you see nothing but Hispanics working and make them show their papers if you can catch them. If no papers on them; escorted to where they are then if no papers - deported. No waiting for two years. Right then they go into a holding cell for the next bus to the border or plane heading to Mexico City for drop off.

> Enforce e-verify <

I don’t know about that machine gun thing, but yes, enforce e-verify. And ramp up the employer penalties for repeat offenders.

Oh, and one more thing. Only citizens should get benefits (social security, etc.).

“Building a wall takes time. Build does not equal waving a magic wand.”

Building the wall takes money. Mexico refuses to pay for it. The GOP Congress won’t fund it, particularly in an election year.

The wall was a Trump campaign promise that will not be realized. The people we elect to Congress fear the donors more than their voters. We the voters confirm their choice every election when we vote for the Republican to keep the Democrat from winning.

Our GOP congresscritters can take us for granted because we voters continue to reward their behavior. Demographics is destiny and with 10 more years of open borders Obama’s dream of fundamentally changing America will be realized under one party rule. Republicans are willing accomplices in this transformation.
