Goodell Moves Far Too Late To Cure The Greatest Self-Inflicted Wound in Sports History
DB Daily Update ^ | 10.11.2017 | David Blackmon

Hours after President Trump issued a tweet early Tuesday questioning the current tax subsidies received by the NFL, Commissioner Roger Goodell sent a memo to team owners instructing them that “all players should stand for the national anthem.”

Goodell’s move comes more than a year too late. It comes after the NFL has lost 20% of its audience since Colin Kaepernick began his attention-seeking kneel-down during the anthem at the behest of his marxist girlfriend on August 26, 2016. It comes after Goodell and the owners stood silently by as Kaepernick’s silly sideshow act slowly gained imitators as the 2016 season went along, and after the dam literally broke and disrespecting the flag and anthem became a league-wide fad this season.

Goodell’s move comes after the NFL’s reputation as “America’s Game” had been tossed into the trash can. His memo comes after a month of acrimony between the league and the President, who has repeatedly urged the league to force the players to show a little respect for the country that has made them so fabulously wealthy and famous, and following Sunday’s walk-out of a game between the Colts and 49ers by Vice President Mike Pence.

The sad part of all of this is that it all could have been avoided had Goodell, on August 27, 2016, made a phone call to the idiot owner of the San Francisco 49ers, and instructed him to bench a single player for a single game if he would not stand for the national anthem. But Goodell didn’t have the sense to do that. Because of that, we have for the last 13 months witnessed what is without a doubt the greatest self-inflicted wound in the history of organized sports, a wound from which the NFL may never really recover. Tough.

This IDIOT's contracr should not be renewed!

Goodell could've shut down this kneeling BS the 1st time Kaepernick kneeled!

Simple. The overpaid pompous players need to stand at attention with the hands over the hearts during the playing of the National Anthem, and then protest all they want on their own time. We pay to watch the game, no to play politics.

Peak NFL, the bubble has burst. Bubbles don’t do bandaids.

Roger Badhell is the worst NFL Commissioner evah and his salary contract is outrageous theft for this gelding of incompetence. He should worry about the deflated balls in his middle.

TAX THE NFL.

The millionaires will not respect the country that made them millionaires.

That is already a rule in some kind of NFL game manual along with punishments. Kevin read the governing sentences last night on the radio.

Yeah without a doubt Rodger Goodell should be absolutely fired.

the funny thing is I wasn’t he himself the victim of a pc-cderived Witch Hunt about 18 months ago..?

he survived yet in spite of his experience he did not nip this in the bud.

Amazing.

They get special treatment from cities, counties and the federal government on their stadiums and all the way through the system. It’s usually the taxpayer that pays for the stadiums because the cities give them special treatment.

If I had Billions of dollars to spend and could do anything to the NFL to make it better. I would start building Football-Bots Teams with the same exact teams, logos, colors, numbers and names of legendary players on each Bot. The stadiums would be modified so debris flying off the field of play would not injure patrons in the stands. Maybe the good players can learn to control a Bot playing their old position. Most controllers will be manned by the same nerds who grew up playing video games in their rooms with no outdoor or social life, who everyone always thought were unemployable...

I'd love to be in the room when all these "kneelers" negotiate their next contract...

"Isn't that contract missing a couple of zero's"

"No, of course not, crap rolls down hill."

Goodell is an out of touch, powdered crony capitalist media prince. Several weeks later this ass is still trying to figure out what happened

He’s gonna be “retired” at the end of the season, probably announced on a Friday at 5 pm
