The pride of Wisconsin got an earful back home.
House Speaker Paul Ryan remains undeniably popular in his home state. He routed a Donald Trump-inspired primary challenger last year to win reelection. Yet the shortcomings of an all-Republican Washington this year has met disapproval from voters across the political spectrum, and it was all too evident at a nationally televised town hall here on Monday night.
“I had high hopes since you're the speaker and my congressional representative. How have you not been successful up until this point as a leader to get this done like you promised?” asked Kevin Matthewson of Kenosha, pressing Ryan on why Republicans haven’t passed an Obamacare repeal bill despite unified-party control.
Others at the CNN town hall were even more pointed when they weren't on camera.

Isn’t there ONE decent conservative in his district who can run against him in the primary? Remember Cantor, who was considered unbeatable until Bratt beat him soundly. Or is WI an open primary state, where the GOPe can depend on Democrats to come in and vote for the GOPe candidate over the conservative?Open primaries should be forbidden.

I think WI has open primaries, and Dems voted overwhelmingly for one of their own (Ryan).

Open primaries are the means by which the swamp/Uniparty maintains its grip. The Estaishment would no more ban open primaries than it would vote for term limits.
