Defense Secretary Suggests Civilians Are 'Pussies' For Sitting On The Sidelines

Donald Trump’s secretary of defense James ‘Mad Dog’ Mattis appeared to suggest those who did not serve the country were “a bunch of pussies.” The retired general made the comments at an address to members of the U.S. Navy last week, and the transcript was made available by the Defense Department website this week.

“You will have some of the best days of your life and some of the worst days of your life in the U.S. Navy, you know what I mean?" Mattis told the troops at an event at Naval Base Kitsap, Washington.

"That means you're living. That means you're not some pussy sitting on the sidelines, you know what I mean, kind of sitting there saying, ‘Well, I should have done something with my life,'” he said.

"Because of what you're doing now, you're not going to be laying on a shrink's couch when you're 45 years old, say ‘What the hell did I do with my life?'" he added. "Why? Because you served others; you served something bigger than you."

The defense secretary said he had taken the decision to accept the cabinet role because he wanted to continue serving the armed forces, in what he said was “the best paycheck in the world.”(continued)

Totally agree: all those so-called men who avoided serving their country in one of the services - particularly when their country needed them in wartime - are useless.

I served from 1965 to 1969 as an enlisted Marine and it was maddening to come home to see twits - able-bodied twits - standing around while we did all the hard stuff for our country. Or worse yet, making idiots of themselves, pretending they were "conscientious objectors" or carrying the enemy's flag.

When I first heard that Mad Dog said it, I immediately was reminded of the President of the PGA, Ted Bishop, WHO WAS FIRED for tweeting that Ian Poulter was squealing like a little school girl during recess. End of his job just like that because he broke a political correctness rule.

But there is a lot of distance between what Ted Bishop did and Mattis. I don't think this is going to gain traction.

Tried to enlist at 33 after 9/11. At 240 pounds they said come back when you lose enough. In my weakness, I couldn’t get to the required weight.

I boxed for a number of years in my late teens and 20s.

The Cold War was forced on the USA in the aftermath of WW2. It was not the choice of America or the US military. With the breakup of the Soviet Union, a lot of things changed.

Any flag officer that won’t say ‘Islamic terrorism’ is serving the politically correct New World Order, regardless of other fine qualities. There are warrior heroes on every side in any war, but that tells us nothing about their views of the future.
