KID ROCK FOR SENATE-When to go ALL-IN?

Posted on 07/24/2017 8:32:09 AM PDT by DIRTYSECRET

He's got to speak often to prove he's well informed and not a loose cannon(Todd Akin). A well recognized name(rookie) going against an experienced incumbent reminds me of Lynn Swan. High risk-high reward. The excitement of a possible candidacy is not enough. Trump's help will be important. Cut the hair to look Senatorial? You tell me. Then the question becomes when to donate and how much. I say win the primary on it's merits first. Through vetting.

Wait a while. But I think Kid Rock, Antonio Sabato, Jr., and Omar Navarro are just a FEW of the citizen legislators in the mode of 1994 (Steve Largent, Sonny Bono, J.C. Watts, others) who came out en masse and won.

No, he doesn’t need to do any of that.

He just needs to tell people that THE CURRENT GOVERNMENT SUCKS over and over.

And remind them (when the libtards press him) that NO ONE in the government is an expert at everything on the planet, and letting them make the rules for things they know nothing about is just plain stupid.

I think he may already have won just by announcing. WE NEED TO RECRUIT MORE!!!!

I don’t care if we get an inexperienced group in charge- look at how bad the ‘experienced’ morons have done!

I don’t care about his hair. I don’t care about his foul mouth/song lyrics.

I do care if he’s the guy that can take Stabenow out. If he can do that, it’s a win.

I see him leaning libertarian than conservative, though. I’m guessing he’s pro-abortion and “gay rights”, but if he’s willing to help put the brakes on out of control spending, he at least will help out more than Stabenow EVER would.

The Deplorables must line up candidates now to drain the “Sewer” in 2018. We need “outsiders” to run against the sewer bottom feeders!! A great place to start, IMO, is to look at retired military and retired law enforcement who put their country first instead of themselves.

Take out the "staygrant, do nothing politicians"
and give me a "rookie" whose heart and ACTIONS agree with mine,
rather than "same ole, same ole, professional politicians" who promise, and don't deliver !!

Whenever we come up with choices like this, I have to wonder if there can’t be something better. Look at a business person in the area. Look in the phone book if need be. The work they do is NOT hard. It’s about choices. Look in the church and back someone. If he’s truly libertarian, there is a problem. He will promote dope, abortion, and other undesirable traits to get a tax cut. Just being from Detroit might be a problem. many of these people voted for all these problems before finally coming to their senses. They may not be used to thinking in realities. Usually people in entertainment have spent a lifetime thinking the wrong way and bending to please the public. Somebody with principles in their DNA might work out better, like a past military person. People that push someone like Kid Rock will mention something like the “Youth Vote”. Youth don’t vote and when they do, it will be the other party. A successful businessman could do just as well with the backing of the party and might not be an idiot.

Pro choice. Will the conservatives in the Upper Peninsula go for that? I saw many signs that read: “It’s not a choice. It’s a child.”

I don’t know yet if Kid Rock is the best candidate for the Michigan GOP but I am disapointed to already see conservatives saying they can’t vote for someone who is libertarian or disagrees with conservatives on issuse X, Y, or Z. The fact is that there is probably not a traditional 100% social and economic conservative out there who can beat Stabenow. With Kid Rock you would have a Senator who caucauses with your side and votes your way 80% of the time. With Stabenow you have a mortal enemy to everything you believe in.
Donald Trump didn’t win Michigan as a conservative. He didn’t barnstorm Michigan promoting the sanctity of life, a return to traditional marriage, and crackdown on marijuana. He ran as a populist who said Washington is screwed up, you deserve better, and I’ll get you jobs, a growing economy, and a safe America.
Why will conservatives never learn from the liberals who have defeated us for the last thirty years. They are happy to move the football a few yards at a time, while we throw Hail Mary passes of conservative purism. They formed a power base that moved their agendas forward by uniting disparate causes and people that should be enemies - environmentalists and autoworkers, muslims and homosexuals. All the while we squable about our differences and nominate unelectable candidates. It would do us well to take to heart Ronald Reagan’s words “The person who agrees with you 80 percent of the time is a friend and an ally - not a 20 percent traitor.”

That's my attitude with the incumbents. Throw out the one that's entrenched - the replacement can't be much worse, and if they are no good, in the next election, throw them out as well. Keep churning that gene pool until someone who's halfway decent gets in. Keep them a couple of terms, then throw them out as they will have been corrupted by then. Not even a saint could stand up to the corrosive effects of politics.

Being "pro-choice" on abortion is not "X,Y or Z", it betrays an underlying philosophy that is utterly incompatible with conservatism. Michigan is not pro-abort the way California or Massachusetts are.

Donald Trump didn’t win Michigan as a conservative.

He did win as someone who has campaigned and is governing as a pro-lifer.

Kid Rock — AS HE IS RIGHT NOW — is already less of a “joke” than Al Franken or Elizabeth Warren, and also McCain, Flake, McConnell, Corker, Murkowski, Collins, Graham, Cornyn, Rubio and Tillis.

It will be funny when people start calling Kid Rock “Racist”, without knowing anything about him.

1) Doodle-Swann lost. THAT’S the problem.
2) Pro life shouldn’t matter. How long has Stabenow and the Rats held that seat? Gotta take it first. Just look at the underwear model who took the Kennedy seat after 50 years Only had it for 2 but I for one will take it.
3) Businessperson in the area? Don’t waste time if you don’t know who they are. Just think the Buckley rule my friends.
4) Oatka-I’m still ok with Collins in Maine. If we don’t need her next time I say throw her out. Just give it to the rats. There’s a limit to what we should take. Just ask Richard Lugar.

I’m probably as pro-life as you and your Michigan conservative friends but I have the luxury of living in a red state. In my primary you have to be pro-life to have a chance at the GOP nomination but if you get the nomination you will win the general. That’s not Michigan. If you will trade an 80% win for the satisfaction of an ideologically pure candidate who will lose than you can expect to live a in a country that continues to slide at various speeds to the Left. —

The ironic thing is that abortion is one of the few social issues that the right has actually gained on in the last 2 decades. In many states abortion is far more regulated and restricted. Abortion providers are fewer and pro-life free speech and ideas are more protected and promoted. All of this is because there were visionaries in the pro-life movement who realized that they weren’t going to overturn Roe V Wade now but they could move the football a few yards each year and they have worked tirelessly to limit abortion. Saying that you would rather have an ideologically pure loss to Stabenow is better than having a pro-choice Kid Rock who will likely help to confirm the 2 or possibly 3 Trump Supreme Court justices who just might end abortion forever is slight to the cause of Life.
