Three jurors from the George Zimmerman trial are going on national television to defend their controversial verdict one that sparked protests across the country and legal analysts say they could perform a public service.
People dont understand you have to follow the law, juror Madelin Rivera said in an interview. They give directions to the jury, and you follow that.
Rivera (known as juror B-29 during the trial), Amy Tronolone (D-40) and Christine Barry (B-51) appear in The Jury Speaks: George Zimmerman at 9 p.m. Monday on Oxygen. The series also talks to jurors in the trials of Michael Jackson, O.J. Simpson and Robert Durst.
The Zimmerman jurors names were made public in April 2014, but the Orlando Sentinel typically does not identify jury members unless they have agreed to be interviewed.
A Seminole County jury in 2013 acquitted Neighborhood Watch volunteer Zimmerman of murder in the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin, an unarmed, black 17-year-old. The not-guility verdict in Sanford helped spur the Black Lives Matter movement.
The issue for jurors came down to self-defense.....

The DA over charged in this case and did not give a compromise charge of manslaughter. I do believe that Zimmerman did exacerbate the situation and a charge of manslaughter or negligent homicide could have been argued for.
[[one that sparked protests across the country]]
Obama the race baiter sparked the protests- the verdict wasn’t controversial at all- it was a clear cut case of self defense- Trayvon was trying to murder george by bashing his skull against concrete- George had EVERY RIGHT to defend himself with deadly force at that point- period
I watched the whole trial. Prosecutor had no case and poorly presented whatever it was he did have. Evidence of criminality just wasn’t there.
The neighborhood watch was setup by the local government. He was participating in the approved plan. Zimmerman was attacked and acted to save himself. He shouldn’t go to jail for anything he did.
How was it manslaughter or negligent homicide?
It was a totally justifiable homicide.
When someone is trying to kill you, you kill them.
End of story.
exactly donna- george didn’t exacerbate any situation- he was doing what he was hired to do- trayvon is the only one that exacerbated anything by trying to murder george by bashing his skull against the cement-
Self-defense is illegal for White-Hispanics.
In retrospect, the national media's behavior throughout the episode was a harbinger of what was to come a few years later as the Media finally dropped even the pretext of objectivity during the 2016 Presidential campaign, wherein they openly colluded to install Hillary in the White House—even at the expense of their journalistic integrity.
I merely stated that it would have been a better case for them to go for a lesser charge. I do believe it was self defense, and came no where near a charge of 2nd degree murder.
I agree with you. the situation could of been avoided by Zimmerman but at the same time the guy was attacked by the person he ended up killing.
Fake news. The ground for which Saint Skittles was bashing Zimmerman's head into a bloody pulp was plenty "armed" and "deadly."
Jury Nullification....
I realised that Obama was a race baiter when he pulled his disgusting “If I had a son.” line. If I had been a worthless drug addled thug like Tryvon my father would have kicked my ass. Actually, if Tryvon had had any sort of dedicated father present he would probably not have ended up being a violent thug.
As I recall, the DA didn’t bring the charges. The local DA had decided not to purse the case.
It was due to pressures brought by black activists and assorted liberals, who agitated and pressured the governor of Florida to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the case.
It was this special prosecutor, not the DA, who brought the charges. And I’m sure it was due to the pressure from the pressure groups, that the charge was murder.
In fact, if you will recall, the incident happened in late Feburary 2012. It didn’t hit the national news until late March of 2012, about a month later. It hit the national news because agitators went on Al Sharpton’s show on MSNBC, and agitated through the media, to bring this case to the attention of the nation. To the local police in Sanford, Florida, it was an open and shut case, no crime committed by Zimmerman, and not worthy of any special attention.
And how about how his mother goes around now, making a living off of the Trayvon case? I resent the mother, because she appears to be some irresponsible low life, who didn’t raise Trayvon full time past the age of 2. He was raised in various ad hoc circumstances, which undoubtedly contributed to his doing God knows what in the streets, as he was a youth gang wannabe.
I’ve been tempted to do a meme with Lyndon Johnson’s picture captioned; “It really is Whitey’s Fault.” When leftists started buying votes by paying blacks for irresponsible behavior they ruined the black community. Had they targeted any other group the results would have been the same.
Agreed.
>I do believe that Zimmerman did exacerbate the situation and a charge of manslaughter or negligent homicide could have been argued for.
LOL. You’re got to explain that to me.
