As for me, I only experience a painful cramp once and I was about 15. I was at school, I went to the restroom due to discomfort and leaned against the wall and boom I had this extremely painful cramp that I cried out & kicked the wall.
Later thru out it was regular & light, but when I reached my 30’s it became so heavy. I will admit I have taken 3 days off on occasion to take time off. No matter how many times I changed I have stained the seats at work. Again I did not take time off every month, it simply depends on the flow & discomfort.
Now I am currently going thru menopause. My periods are far in between, I can’t wait for my period to end completely where I can say my nightmare is finally over. LOL

Code Red ! Code Red !
WTF? And the feminists bitch about equality, wage gap, sexism, etc. etc. and they get behind this sh*t? I fear for the future. I really do.
“if I identify as a woman I can get 2 extra days of vacation a month?”
If it comes to where I work, I will try it. I’ll get “retired” with extreme prejudice, no doubt, but what the heck, I’m good to go.
You are correct, sir!
Every company I’ve ever worked for has provided at least 12 days off when you add up personal time, vacation, etc.
So my read on this isn’t that women want a day off for their period - it’s that they want 12 additional days off for their period on top of the standard PTO.
Uhm...Looking forward to hot flashes are you?
I'd choose crampy periods over hot flashes. You can make plans around periods but not the HF. It'll be -30 outside and you'll want to strip naked. They disturb your sleep. One minute you're sleeping soundly, the next minute you're throwing the covers off the bed and you want to shave your hair off.
Cherish your remaining periods :)
I have poly cystic ovary disease and endometriosis.
There were days I could barely function from the pain.
If you have never experienced it, you really need to take a great big dose of shut the hell up, because you REALLY don’t understand the absolute misery those conditions can cause.
I’ve worked since I was 16, and I did miss work days due to first days. And a few second and third days.
I also have 4 children I gave birth to / adopted over the years.
My company was not injured in the least because I made sure my work was caught up.
Some of you....you really need to get a gripe. If you’re male or a female that didn’t struggle with this, consider yourself blessed. You have NO idea. None.

Sound like a bloody good perk.
Geez, I think my laptop must have PMS...I have no idea why it posted multiple times.
Sorry.
Also, should it not be for at least 5 days?
Lighten up :)
Your condition is way past the basic cramps. I’m sorry for what you had to go through. It’s debilitating.
In your case there’s no reason why a doctor couldn’t prescribe a day off every month. You would have a legit reason to. Others just need to man-up and take a midol.
I was MGTOW before mgtow was a thing.
Me and my doggo(s) have many miles behind us, happy miles.
Zero complaints...

And this relates to companies offering a personal day for menstration how?
Well that was different!! :)

As far as I personally am concerned, menopause is a girl’s best friend. :)
For some of us, it’s not actual period days that poses problems. For some of us, it’s the days leading up to that day that’s rough..IE PMS.
I’m glad to see women being offered a break for their difficult day. There are genuine physical issues that can accompany our cycles that are uniquely individual, bit can be dangerous for some such as clumsiness. Depending on the job, a girl can get hurt! If you have a pounding headache bordering on migraine, it can affect job performance and even safety. Pills don’t help some of these issues.
If a man has a bad case of diarrhea, what does he do? I’m sure much depends on his job and his ability to use the men’s room as often as needed. The same thing happens to some women on that special day, accompanied by severe pain and migraine that no amount of pamprin or midol is going too relieve.
Some lucky women have zero issues with their monthly, others are darned near totally incapacitated along with everything in between.
Sometimes medical remedies exist or alleviate issues, but those remedies don’t exist for everybody.
It’s sad that a woman’s respect is denied her due to physiology that she didn’t ask for. That’s an attitude that seriously needs to be changed. Pretending a woman is a man isn’t the right way to go about it. Respecting a woman when she set’s a limit without spelling it out or throwing sarcastic remarks is what needs to happen. Men do this and nobody questions it. I’ve heard men say “ I have more on my plate than I can handle, your request is going to have to wait.”. Or..I’m too busy right now to do that, it’ll have to wait.”. When a woman say such, she’s ostracised.
