CNN anchor Alisyn Camerota announced on Wednesday that she’s “breaking up” with Twitter because it’s become “mean and verbally abusive.”
"It's over. I'm breaking up with you," wrote the co-anchor of CNN's "New Day." "You're a shadow of your former self, the one I was first attracted to. It's no fun to be with you anymore.”
"You've become mean and verbally abusive,” she continued. “In fact, you gross me out. You're a cesspool of spleen-venting from people who think it's acceptable to insult other people in public and anonymously."
Camerota went on to say that she won’t miss Twitter “for a second.”
“I don't like thinking of people using you, typing away with nothing but a keyboard and a chip on their shoulder, but that's the company you're keeping,” she wrote. “You're hanging out with people who find satisfaction spewing vitriol, people who spread racism, misogyny, and anti-Semitism. Perhaps it's worse than I know. Maybe you're struggling with addiction: addiction to outrage. It's a powerful drug. I wish I could help you kick it. I feel its pull sometimes too. But I don't want to be sucked in. All I can do is save myself from the bitter dark places where you like to dwell.
“So, I'm done. I'm moving on. I'm looking for something else, something real and lasting. Something that involves actual people, not nearly 48 million bots. I prefer my real friends over fake humanoids run by computers and true trolls filled with genuine venom. Call me old fashioned, but I like hearing viewers' real thoughts, not the ones special interest groups pay them to tweet. And to the tens of thousands of folks who took time to follow me, I trust we'll find a kinder place to reconnect.”
It’s unclear what motivated Camerota to delete her account after 8 years using the social media channel.
She left the door open to a possible return if Twitter becomes “more thoughtful” in the future.
Perhaps her decision to cut ties has to do with the backlash she and her co-anchor Chris Cuomo received when one of the producers for her show “New Day” was caught on camera calling American voters “stupid as shit.” Who knows.

MSM closes commenting on articles and Camerota opuses about Twitter. Can this be a trend that some on the left are retreating from carrying the fight on social media?
Some of her reasons for leaving Twitter are the same as my reasons I have never joined it. I haven’t joined Facebook either. Not saying I never will, especially if my job ever demands it. I just don’t feel the urgency right now. To each his own. Some folks have a bigger appetite for online arguments than others.

Sadly, you can just see this same verbiage used in a divorce filing after making some guy’s life a living hell.
