Clark: The blah object blah was shown to him by XYX (1);

Academic: “The” blah “object” blah “was shown to him by XYX” (1).

Which is more readable?

The seriousness of the charge provides the convicting evidence ...

He didn’t include quotes because he wasn’t supposed to. Every school/professor has their own way of doing footnotes/quotes. He did it the way he was supposed to, and the school has said he did.
