The Marines get very low (tree branches in the oil cooler/intake low) and press the attack repeatedly. It’s Marine aviation’s primary mission, and they integrate & practice constantly with the ground troops, Marine Air-Ground Task Force (MAGTF).
Thanks. I asked my son if he saw an A-10 while in the stan and he said no. He’s a former Marine so I’ll check out the MAGTF. I bet they’re ALL happier with the new ROE, although not as happy as they could be.
Altitude has nothing to do with CAS, it is delivering munitions in close proximity to friendly troops that define CAS.
Low altitude airshows are nice to watch but irrelevant when delivering accurate munitions. . .and get too low and you blow yourself out of the sky from the frag pattern of the bomb you just dropped.
