INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Leaders from global tech firm Infosys joined Mayor Joe Hogsett and Governor Eric Holcomb on Tuesday to announce that they selected Indianapolis as the home of the company’s first technology and innovation hub in the United States.

The company will set up their operations at the OneAmerica Tower located at 200 North Illinois Street.

Infosys plans to create up to 2,000 new, high-skilled jobs by the end of 2021.

“The 2,000 Hoosiers we will hire and train will help drive U.S. economic growth and innovation in cloud, big data, artificial intelligence and machine learning throughout various industries,” said Infosys President and Deputy COO Ravi Kumar.

The company will begin operations in approximately 35,000 square feet of space within the OneAmerica Tower. Infosys, which already employs more than 140 associates across Indiana, will hire developers, analysts, architects, domain consultants and other technology professionals following the opening of its Indianapolis office.

The company says they will add 100 new jobs by the end of 2017 and 400 new jobs by the end of 2018. Infosys plans to invest more than $8.7 million to establish operations in Indianapolis.

He knows because InfoSys is an Indian company. The vast majority of the hires will be 'employees' transferred from India.

Regardless, they will have to eat, sleep, shop locally so that will give the local economy a bit of a boost.

Since President Trump is throttling the H1-B visa program, how will they pull that off?

H-1B was not throttled back. The annual quota was 85,000 and it still is 85,000. Nothing to see here, move along.

L1 Visa - intra-company transfers. Gives wives and children L2 status to accompany.

Sorry, but if you have the skills you can get a job in IT. The problem is that the education system has been so dumbed down that we aren't graduating enough tech savvy people.

BS. If H-1B visas were eliminated there would be a labor shortage and wages would go up enticing more people to go into that field. It is called supply and demand.

You're missing my point. You cannot 'entice' people into a trade they are not trained for. The education system has to PROMOTE and provide this field as an option instead of snow flake social studies degrees as their first priority.

Also, IT wages are well above the national average already. Why does that not in and of itself entice more people to go into the field. Are you in the field? I have been, for 30+ years, as an employee, successful consulting firm owner, and independent contractor to Fortune 500 companies.

The problem is the brain washing in the education system steering kids into BS degrees where they end up as baristas at Starbucks vs. technical degrees.
