Need Area Info from Charlotte Freepers
Self | 5/23/2017 | Self

My husband began a new job west of Charlotte, NC recently. We are not familiar with the area yet, but what we have seen feels very busy and chaotic. Are there any Freepers from the area that can tell us about some good places to live west of Charlotte with a slower pace? Thank you in advance!

I know a lot of the NASCAR drivers, team members, etc live to the north of Charlotte, looks to be a good area, but I know you are focusing on the west side.

Why not pose your question to NC freepers on the state message board?

Cleveland County is west of Charlotte and is still a quiet, conservative Christian community.

State message boards are pages devoted to topics of interest to individual states. Here’s the page for North Carolina:

Please consider living in the Lancaster, Rock Hill, and York areas of South Carolina. Close to Charlotte yet slower paced with potentially lower real estate prices and taxes.

Why not pose your question to NC freepers on the state message board?

The NC Forum is a lively group of a dozen or so regulars (including one in Seattle and another in Colombia), but there are many NC residents who do not post there. Hopefully someone will see this post and have some useful information.

Also, Charlotte is very near South Carolina, so SC FReepers may have suggestions.

If you go to your home page and click on your state flag, it will take you to your state message board.

Lake James, NC, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, about 80 miles west of Charlotte, 60 miles East of Asheville. Check out SouthPointe on Lake James. 😁

Travel through Charlotte several times a year on I-77. Strongly suggest you explore traffic patterns before buying, especially if I-77 is the norm.

I wish! I don’t think my husband would like to commute.

Clover is nice.

It’s come a long way in the past couple of decades.

York never did much for me. Lake Wylie is crowded.

I’d look to live outside of Charlotte since taxes are up there.

The nicest parts of Charlotte itself are the South parts. I lived there for 10 years.

You might try Kings Mountain or Shelby North Carolina. Gastonia, Denver, Lowell and Mount Holly are pretty quiet. I would stay out of McAdenville. That town goes nuts at Christmas time.
