The North Korean EMP Bomb, Part 2
Right Wing Conservative News Blog ^ | May 12, 2017 | Jeffrey A. Friedberg

There are many who seem to routinely poo-poo the idea North Korea can field an EMP (Electro Magnetic Pulse) nuclear bomb attack on America. The generally uninformed, often-lying, US media does it all the time.

And apparently well meaning bloggers and posters, seem to believe they have the answers.

Some of them, “seem to know more,” than even retired CIA director Robert James Woolsey Jr, and another expert, US Congressional EMP Task Force director Dr. Peter Vincent Pry.

And yet, these pundits and players, don’t know. They typically concentrate on the “unreliability” of North Korean missiles, the lack of reliable re-entry vehicles, smallish nuclear detonations, and they cite numerous missile “failures.”

Well, North Korea doesn’t need any of those items to execute a successful EMP attack on America. They don’t need missiles, launches, or re-entry vehicles, and the largest an EMP bomb has to be is apparently just 10 kilotons, detonated at an altitude of around 70 miles. They already have what they need.

If EMP weapons were that easy to build, we’d have them in our arsenal.

Who says we don't already . . . .

If we were hit with an EMP, will there even be the possibility of retaliation considering that everything will be down?

It took an entire ARMY to get one (ONE) terrorist in Boston.

Try to imagine answering a thousand miles of devastation. This country is not capable of handling it. Then you wopuld have the Cascade Phenomenon.

Catastrophic Cascade. (Look that one up)

They are easy to build, EMP is just not effective.

>> Your home will be fine <<

Until you run out of gasoline or propane for your generator, that is, if you don’t run out of ammo first — when the ravaging herds of urban marauders invade your space.

>> Their army is huge <<

Yes but it will collapse quickly, just like any other “third world” army when faced with a USA-ROK joint force.

Still, the biggest problem remains those thousands of artillery tubes 25 miles north of Seoul, which could all be fired off in minutes — well before they could be neutralized — causing maybe 100,000+ deaths in Seoul almost instantly.

Sure. Even though most of us would starve within a month or so, our nuke subs would still be fully operational.

Ditto for our forces and the ROK army in Korea — not affected by an EMP over the USA.

mark vs bttt
bttt: bump to the top
mark: similar to hack, simply places a mark in the thread for future reference. It allows the post to act as a marker for future action by the poster,...e.g. if I don’t have time to read an interesting article, I might “mark” it so I can find it easily in the future to read it.

Sorry. Darn auto correcting. MOV’s. Metal oxide validators. Essentially transient clamping components that shunt high surges to ground.

I think the brouhaha/scare leading up to “Y2K” and the impending collapse of society from old computer software is affecting the way some folks perceive the EMP threat. They think, “Hey, that expert little boy has cried wolf before. No need to worry now.”

It doesn’t matter that they have gained some power, EMP simply is not this “destroys all things electronic and electrical”. It has turned into some kind of Internet boogeyman.

There is a reason we don’t keep EMP weapons in our nuclear stockpile: EMP isn’t what the Internet think it is.

My brother did 8 years in "Tech Control" and later worked as a "Contractor" at Kwajalein Atoll for about 7 years.
EMP is extremely effective and with today's technology, it takes a very good faraday cage to shield against it.
Needless to say, but it works, ... and it works very well !
