Science and technology students at the nation’s historically black colleges could get a boost from President Donald Trump’s executive order aimed at altering a visa program that brings highly skilled workers to the United States.
Leaders and advocates for historically black colleges and universities have been monitoring the immigration and jobs debate, telling the Trump administration and congressional lawmakers that so-called science, technology, engineering and math graduates from HBCU schools are readily available to fill high-tech jobs that are currently going to foreign workers.
Rep. Mark Walker, R-N.C., who hosted a gathering of black college presidents in Washington, said Trump’s order “as a byproduct could help some of the HBCU graduates.”
“I think it can be a good thing,” added Walker, chairman of the conservative Republican Study Committee, whose district includes N.C. A&T State University. “I want to see what comes of this, and maybe later on this year we’ll have a better idea.”
Trump signed an order Tuesday dubbed “Buy American, Hire American,” which instructs the Departments of Homeland Security, Justice, Labor and State to recommend new rules to prevent immigration fraud and abuse.....

So the message is without Asians, companies will become so desperate for somebody anybody that they will be forced to clench their noses and hire black people
Our economy is still too fragile to bring in H-1B visa holders.(thanks to BHO)
Suspend the H-1B program until such time that we have full employment, nation-wide.
Why DJT still allows the program to exist is a total mystery.
How can he possibly say “America for Americans first” when we have foreigners taking jobs from Americans.
Abolish the H-1B program altogether and permanently.
No foreigners means no foreign multinational companies in the USA which means a weaker economy. This hurts the US military and ultimately the survival of our nation.
America would be a lot better off with that message “hire blacks and without Asian immigrants”.
Change the culture, change the attitude, instill a Biblical message that they aren’t any more special than anybody else and you’d be surprised how far we can go.
You would be surprised how much a caring male father-figure can play into a teenager’s life. Blacks need to start caring about their families again. Change the culture.
GA.GOV offices are in walking distance of 5 HBCU. Many thousands on Staff. Immigrants in IT, my co-workers, both Asians and others. The few immigrants in other departments are not Asians. About 60% of total workforce is Black. 30% White. Hispanics very rare.
Currently 60%+ of applicants are Black from what I can see. And about that percentage are hired. Of course, Georgia also has many contractors with many employees. I’m a contractor with an Indian firm.
We live in interesting times.
