Trump Flattens ISIS Terror Complex
Canada Free Press ^ | 04/14/17 | Matthew Vadum

The Mother of All Bombs takes out a terrorist stronghold

The United States dropped the largest non-nuclear bomb in its arsenal yesterday on an Islamic State complex in the mountains of Afghanistan, a powerful indication that the Trump administration takes its responsibilities in the war against Muslim terrorism seriously.

This successful mission is part of President Trump making good on a campaign promise made in late 2015 to “bomb the # out of” Islamic State (also known as ISIS, ISIL, or Daesh). Yesterday the president referred to the military operation as “another successful job,” after acknowledging he trusted his generals in the field enough to delegate strike authority to them.

That bomb is a thin aluminum case with a cheapo GPS guidance system and a detonator. The only thing tricky about would be how the proper fuel-air mix is created to general the maximum explosive power/shock-wave.

Delivered by a garden-variety C-130 it’s probably the cheapest sortie run in recent decades.

“I never understood why Obama always called them ISIL, while almost everyone else calls them ISIS.”

Almost all of the Fraud’s really faithful, including HIS Republicans, used ISIL as a slam against Israel.

They, like their terrorist BFF’s, do not believe in Israel’s right to exist.

More discussed here (and elsewhere):

ISIL (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) countries along the Mediterranean. Levant refers to a multi-nation region in the Middle East. It’s a land bridge between Turkey to the north and Egypt to the south. By saying ISIL not ISIS you negate Lebanon, Israel and Jordan which are also along the Mediterranean and part of that land bridge. I believe obama doesn’t want to acknowledge Israel as a legitimate state whereby ignoring their existence is his own perverted way.

When you call the group ISIL instead of ISIS, you legitimize their claim to parts of the Levant besides Syria: Lebanon, Jordan — and Israel.

Hows about the ones already tested? Don’t they figure into the mix as well? Absolutely stupid argument. I challenge them to go ask the parents of the GB soldier killed there almost a week ago. Ask the parents of those who would have also died or been wounded if they tried to take that complex with small arms? Hoes about these liberal a-holes piping up about the cost of drones and the missile strike to take out one guy?

Hows about these snowflake SOB’s kiss my posterior?

In case you were wondering what did the MOAB cost.... USA had 20 built at cost of $314 million, per bomb cost of $15,700,000 News report that 36 ISIS killed, making cost per ISIS, $436,111.11 Does not include cost of plane and crew to bomb site and return to base. Does not include cost of scaring crap out of N Korea idiot. Good investment? Time will tell...

No American soldiers killed: Priceless.

"I never understood why Obama always called them ISIL, while almost everyone else calls them ISIS... It seems as if he purposefully wanted to singularize himself by using that term."

I think it goes a little deeper than that, I think it was another signal about whose side he was really on. As you note both are acronym, here is my understanding of where they come from.

In Arabic (which doesn't use the Latin alphabet routinely, but does appropriate it for acronyms) the name of the Group is "ad-Dawlah al-Islāmiyah fī 'l-ʿIrāq wa-sh-Shām", which becomes ISIS in Latin. Translated it means Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham. The name change took place when the previous organization, Al Qaeda of Iraq morphed and moved into Syria.

What is "al Sham"? ISIS considers it to be "greater Syria" or the area academic Middle Eastern Specialists call "The Levant".

Most English speaking people, seeing the Arabic acronym ISIS, and understanding that the main thing about this group was its expansion into Syria went with ISIS = Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. Simple, easy to understand, matches the letters used in the Arab world to describe the same group.

But Obama always wants to point out that he's smarter, in a sort of nerdy academic way, than the rest of us. So he insisted on the word-for-word translation Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant and its acronym: ISIL.

So what is "The Levant" or al Sham. Per Wikipedia the narrower modern definition includes: Cyprus
Israel
Iraq
Jordan
Lebanon
Palestine
Syria
Turkey (Hatay Province)

The older, broader definition includes Egypt and parts of Greece.

So, another cool feature saying ISIL instead of ISIS is that Obama is tacitly acknowledging that they have some relevance (they plan to control) Israel, Jordan and the rest of the area. He is tacitly acknowledging their vision.

I don't think that is unintentional, at all.

I was not wondering what Moab cost. I was wondering why Obama did not drop it sooner, and I was wondering if there are another 10 or 20 sites we can drop the Moab on so that our heroic soldiers can end the war in the crept little country Afghanistan.

That soldier lived a few miles from me. The MOAB response was appropriate. I am Donald Trump. You killed my soldier. Prepare to die

Why would Obama have used it?

He was more concerned with getting terrorists back on the battlefield and closing Gitmo.

I remember that the expression of Levant was used during WWII to indicate the area between Turkey and Egypt before the existence of Israel. My parents referred to the Levant as the area that we now associate with the M.E. excluding Saudi and Iraq. The Levant was the Western part of the Middle East bordering on the Mediterranean Sea.

Right you are. Just keep in mind the warm relationship “Jug-Ears” had with Israel.
