If you're into 3 gun competition and want to improve your barricade shooting.
Check out how the younger generation make this barricade drill look so easy to do. Here's up and coming 3 Gun competitive shooter 13 year old Jalise Williams showing us the basics of barricade shooting. She covers basic footwork, maintaining stable platform and sighting in. All of this done within seconds, yes really fast! Have a look here.
Nice...but, at 50 seconds, she racks the pistol three times and then pulls the trigger to verify it is dry. Yikes. That can’t be SOP?
Nothing like this.
Very good presentation, young lady.
Well....the weapon was pointed down-range.
Chances are she already had a dry mag. Racking was just for effect.
Really, what would you have her do?
No, you're not. I don't take lessons or advice from precocious children. Thanks just the same kiddo :)
It doesn’t look like the muzzle is pointed down range. Instead it ooks like it’s pointed at the barricade. And that looks like a quick, casual pull from habit, not treating the weapon as it it is loaded.
But, ignore me. I’m just a casual observer.
She said she was dry and one CD an see there is no mag in the gun.
And here's how us old guys do it. Hey, they're barricaded in that house!
I’d just have a
BEER SUMMIT!
Transition to the shotgun, and get out a frag grenade.
And here's how 3-time World Champion and Team Glock member Tori Nonaka does it.
She says” you want your knee to be pointing out a little bit, and then you just want to bend it as much as possible “
I try to keep as much of my body behind cover. I lean out keeping my knee in. I’m also not flexible. Works for me.
Good shooting, Miss Williams.
Competitions/games like this teach bad tactical form sticking your firearm and hands out in front of the barricade is asking for them to be shot.
A much better tactical position is several feet back from the barricade you create a much smaller profile and your hands and fire arm are not stuck out there.
Also you are not going to get fragments from shots in your face that strike your cover.
It is always good to see young people using firearms but you fight how you train. Due to the ridged safety rules in these matches. They do not allow one to learn proper tactics.
