only minimums in combat are the height your buttons seem to keep you off the ground. It always seems they hold you up too high during close air support. image F100 bomb run TET 68

No lift in that attitude, nothing but thrust keeping you alive. That close to the ground, oh man....!

At Selfridge ANG base near me, they have 21 A-10's. I never knew that until a few months ago when about 5 of them flew over my house headed for the base.........
I mentioned it to a senior friend who I play volleyball with and who happens to be retired from the base and he said they were likely arriving home from an overseas deployment......
Definitely nothing pretty about them, they kind of reminded me of slow, low flying pelicans..........LOL!

THAT’s no plane. The pilot is riding a live round, sitting on a shell, steering a propelled bullet! Wonderful!

Once, they buzzed the lake (and us), and I could have caught a ride with my flyline, if I'd been quick thinking enough. They were low. And loud. Mountain Home AFB in Idaho had the EF-111 variants for several years. Back in the late '80s, I was driving to Bend, OR from Idaho to visit my grandmother. Mountain Home AFB in Idaho had the EF-111 variants.
Well, I was driving along at a fair clip in the middle of nowhere on Highway 20, when my radar detector went nuts. I could see for miles ahead, and there was nowhere for a cop to hide. I thought the detector was broken, then the sky got dark, then light real fast, then I heard the noise. Holy moly! That was a hoot. There were two of them and they had to be below 300'. They were definitely following the terrain. I about loaded my shorts when the noise followed the shadow. I was certainly happy they were ours.

... Seriously? This is one of the worst articles I've seen in a while.
In this sighting its a nice day in whatever Star Wars desert town basically in the middle of nowhere that these grunts had to patrol.
Did this guy even graduate 5th grade English class?

The ground is a great danger for the A-10 in light of their CAS role. But that has to be a rush for the pilot to swoop so low.You do know that all A-10s have always had a virtually bulletproof titanium "bathtub" surrounding them?
Their greatest threat is ground fire. Google "A-10, barely making it back."
And many of those awesome pilots were (are) awesomely attractive chicks, if you'll pardon the expression.

I saw them attack some old tanks on a hill about three hundred yards out at A.P. Hill Army base. We heard some airplanes at some distance then silence and then BRAATTTT. Two of them and then they were gone.
Something you would never forget.
