A Kansas Resident's Upset the Children In a Viral Adoption Listing Are White

Just when you thought the obsession with race in this country couldn’t get any worse, it gets worse. One Kansas resident is a leading contender for the position of "Worst Person In the Entire World" for her racially-charged reaction to siblings who were merely looking for a family to adopt them so they could stay together.

Over the weekend, the Kansas City Star ran a “Family Wanted” listing featuring five adorable children who were looking to find a forever home to adopt them so they didn’t have to be separated. The “Family Wanted” listing spoke about Bradley, 11, Preston, 10, Layla, 8, Landon, 6, and Olive, 2. The listing detailed their different interests and emphasized that the children are looking to be adopted together and are involved in church.

According to the Kansas City Star, the webpage garnered over 4 million views since it went live on Saturday. Corey Lada of the Kansas Children’s Service League, which is affiliated with the AdoptKSKids.org website, said, “This is a viral response...and it’s pretty insane.”

“In 13-plus years of working here, I’ve seen nothing like this. Nothing,” Lada added.

While the overwhelming majority of the responses were positive (the Kansas City Star reports over 1,500 messages were left with inquiries about adopting the children), one Overland Park woman, Nibal Henderson, is blaming the interest in adopting the children on their skin color.

The Kansas City Star reports that Henderson said, when observing the ad going viral, “Part of this didn’t sit well with me.”

Henderson reportedly remarked that the children were all white, “like out of a Lands’ End ad.” Henderson allegedly said children of other races “should be so lucky" as to have people interested in adopting them.

Yes, Henderson is actually upset that five children are closer to finding a loving family that cares for them because they happen to be white. Not only that, but Henderson denigrated the appearance of children in foster care by saying they appear to be “out of Lands’ End ad.”

The Kansas City Star notes that in 2014, a viral advertisement looking for a family for six siblings also went viral. That family featured five white siblings and one interracial child. Lada reported that the children in that advertisement also just found a home.

Lada told the Kansas City Star, “The response this time is at least two or three times stronger," adding, “These kids need no more publicity.”

When I moved back to KC to take care of my mom, we lived in the apartments, Villa Medici, right down the street from her. I know exactly where she lives - had some friends from high school that lived on her street.

Children can’t help what race they are. That’s why it’s immoral to discriminate on the basis of race. Henderson sounds like she has an extremely low IQ.

“It’s basically one idiot out of an entire city saying this nonsense. Not quite sure why they gave her a voice.”

Totally agree. Out of thousands of responses the “journalist” went trolling for one offensive one to write his outraged article about? How hard a job is that? I think I could write a better article off the one worst comment in any comments section in any major online news service on any day of the week.

The fact that people so quickly embrace this article is a testament to the very sinful joy people feel when they find someone who really deserves a good helping of hate. I see it all the time on my Democrat friends’ Facebook feeds, when suddenly they are thrilled to find that one idiot Republican voter from a State they’ve never been to who says something racist so they can say “If you ever needed proof that Republicans are racist, you need look no further than...”

Articles like this prove nothing more than that there is at least one crazy person in America. 1,000 of these articles only prove that there are at least 1,000 crazy people in America.

You’d need about 30 million of these articles to make any kind of sensible statistical comment on the state of American politics or culture today.

Blacks, and to a lesser extent, Hispanics pass this racism down from generation to generation....

There was a time when my neighbors needed somebody to watch their granddaughter for a day, so we (actually the Mrs. and our two teen girls) took her around with them in her baby seat. Little cutie-pie, all eyes and hands, just looking at everything so seriously, and stealing hearts everywhere they took her.

We only did it the one time, because when her father found out that his parents had allowed his baby girl had been in the care of white people (yes, we live in a pepper-and-salt neighborhood), he declared in no uncertain language that it was not to happen again.

She's grown up now, had several kids of her own by various baby-daddies.

(yes; I know there are plenty of racist whites too)

Noted that you felt it needful to include that parenthetical disclaimer. For my part, I would point out that in the current culture, whites are racist by definition. The same definition exempts all others from the charge.

I've not seen statistics on the subject, but I gather from incidental conversations and reading over the years that white people do most of the adopting in this country, including virtually all the transracial adoptions. The issue should be, why are people of other races so much less likely to adopt?

The Newark Star-Ledger, which had been the main newspaper for the state years ago, used to run a section regularly featuring children that needed foster homes. Most of them were black, many were troubled, and there seemed to be no rush of blacks to take them in.

In the years since, we’ve had stories where blacks took them in (multiple children simultaneously), then neglected them while p!ssing away the money that came with them.

Sad situation; if people can’t see past race to provide these kids with homes, then those kids are doomed.
