A hypocritical NBCNews.com article argues that America is a flawed democracy that can be fixed by copying the Worlds Best Democracy Norway.
In Norway Is the Worlds Best Democracy We Asked Its People Why, NBC pretends to provide an objective look at why the Economist Intelligence Unit based in London, where the countrys parliament actually considered banning Americas president downgraded the U.S. to a flawed democracy and rated Norway the best.
The article doesnt mention one reason the U.S. is a flawed democracy: it isnt one; its actually a Republic. [
]
Feigning fairness, the article points out that Norways democracy does have one flaw its TOO CONSERVATIVE: Its (sic) current government is led by the Conservative Party and includes lawmakers from the right-wing populist Progress Party, which wants to slash taxes and immigration.

There are probably more Norwegian-Americans than Norwegians.
Norway is based on Oil and was a Colony of Denmark.

Some points here:
- Don't confuse some 3rd Party global number-crunching agenda-driven organization's praise of Norway as being equivalent to Norwegians praising themselves. Because it's not. And they're not.
- Economically speaking, Norway is EXTREMELY LUCKY, and they freely acknowledge it to you. Before Texans & Louisianans in the 60's discovered North Sea oil and set up their offshore drilling industry, the mainstay of their economy was sardines. If not for oil, their economy would be suffering greatly today. Their economy is the north-pole version of the Persian Gulf micro-states, where the ratio of Petrodollars-Per-Inhabitant is off the scales.
- As with every other free country in the world whose government is lucky enough to be forced to ask themselves, "Wow! How are we going to spend this huge bonanza of $$?" - all Norwegian politicians have long found it necessary (in order to win elections) to provide womb-to-tomb. Don't think for a moment that if the US had the same Petrodollars-per-capita ratio, that we wouldn't spend it the same way. Every Norwegian I've talked to agrees with that their nation is investing far too few of the Petro$$ into industries that can support them in the future when the oil runs out or a cheaper alternative sends oil prices down the toilet.
- OTOH, they've been very diligent at socking away a humongous chunk of PetroIncome in safe, diversified, overseas investments that will ensure well-padded retirements for every aging Norwegian for generations to come (unless the global economy tanks of course).
- Regardless of what kind of economy they had ended up with, Norway is still a stunningly beautiful country with great friendly people in it, and I love my trips there. But you can be sure that if it was still a poor nation without piles of petro$$, it would not have gotten on this outfit's "Best Nations" list.
The only news in recent months from Norway that really bugs the heck out of me is the reduction in the government's annual contribution to the Clinton Global Initiative. No, I'm not bothered by hearing it's reduced or eliminated; what bothers me is that they were giving the Corrupt Clinton Crime Syndicate even a single penny for who knows how long now.

I’ve lived in Norway:
It’s the size of Wyoming, with the population of Rhode Island, has more oil than Saudi Arabia and doesn’t have millions of Mexicans jumping their border.
Mickey Mouse could run Norway using Disneyism and it still would be a nice prosperous place.

“A country of all highly educated white people, with huge revenues from offshore oil? Yeah, thatll work...”
Yeah, what is the message that this think tank is sending to the world?
We should drill baby drill and deport non-whites...?
Huh.

I have been to Norway 9 times and stationed there while I did Mountain and Arctic warfare, and if they think Norway is too conservative then they have no idea what the hell they are on about.
The majority of people are far left, and have open arms for their refugees, and handouts for the lazy.
The country which is probably most conservative out of all of them is probably Denmark.

My grandparents all came from Norway. (Funny - there must have been a good reason for all of them to leave Norway around the same time, come to America, and meet each other over here!)
I spent a summer there and met a gal, fell in love, etc. Thank goodness that never stuck. She now works for the Norwegian government helping refugees get settled into Norway. I do say a prayer for her that she’ll be safe.

Population of Norway. 5M.

Norway is not diverse. They share a common culture—one where everyone works because that’s what you do.
If you are in dire straits the community will help you, because you help people in need. And the people in need want to pay them back.
We are not culturally set for that kind of government.
But no one wants to talk about that.

"I remember these loons saying the same about Iceland."Iceland is very proud of the fact that racial strife is non-existent there.
And how, might you ask, did Iceland accomplish this enviable track record? See if you can pick out the correct answer:
- Successful anti-racism initiatives, including at least one Black Lives Matter chapter in even the tiniest hamlets in Iceland?
- Icelanders are just naturally non-racists from the day they're born ... maybe even before that?
- Enormous White Guilt Reparations regularly paid out to people of color, though you must go back 1100 years to find any ancestors owning slaves (taken in raids on Ireland, England and each other)?
- MLK Holidays celebrated *every* Monday the whole year long?
- Racist bigots can't survive above 65 degrees North due to DNA anomalies?
- Ultra high funding of Teacher's Unions, who in turn prevent racist opinions from ever starting?
- All of the above?
- None of the above?
And the answer is ...... NONE OF THE ABOVE. The reason they have *zero* racial strife is because for centuries they've allowed *zero* non-white immigrants into Iceland.
I read an article long ago about how there was a full-fledged riot the first time black American servicemen stepped off the NATO base to accompany their white colleagues into town to throw down a few beers. The base CO had to forbid them from leaving base at first, and then the US just stopped stationing any blacks there, because it wasn't fair to forbid only black service-members from off-base R&R.
PS: Caveat - this info is decades old. Hopefully they've changed a bit since then?

Think most of us who have been there fell for a Norwegian woman,. One I had turned into a radical lefty, and about a year ago we got on the subject of refugees. Boy oh boy she went off, and I have not talked to her since.

They switch every few years. Before Norway it was Denmark. Before Denmark it was Sweden. For some years, way back, it was Cuba! And of course, way back before that, Uncle Joe was making the USSR a workers’ paradise.
