But the visual “scare factor” does help focus the shooter’s attention, AND the attacker’s attention on his , er, “midsection” of interest.

Laser, yes. It allows you to aim without tying up your eyesight on iron sights, thereby losing the ability to see what else is in front of you, e.g., other bad guys.

I am not sold on lasers but I am sold on a good tac light and night sights for in the dark shooting.
If you have even shot in the dark with out them you well understand.
If you have never shot in the dark one should really find a place to do so it is a eye opening experience.
I was being chased by a bunch of Obama’s people once. Actually, I was in my car and they were on foot, so the danger to me was minimal. I could see the police on the way with a significant response.
Suddenly, every one of the subjects had little red dots on their chests. It’s amazing how quickly they hit the ground.
