My view:
Laser, yes. It allows you to aim without tying up your eyesight on iron sights, thereby losing the ability to see what else is in front of you, e.g., other bad guys.
Light, not sure.

If the light blinds the attacker or helps you see without destroying your own night vision (assuming a dark room or dark outside scene), then it might help.

But the red dot on an attacker’s chest? Definitely puts HIS attention on HIMSELF as the target, and gets the rest of the attackers’ attention as well.

Now, in a combat situation, the rest of the attacking squad now KNOW you are not aiming at them, and DO attack with more certainty at the gun owner as a known target in a known location. But that’s combat, not a urban street attack or home invasion by thugs.

Lights can be useful; some of the lights for pistols are very high intensity - good for blinding the target. They also help with aiming.
