The college student who took video of a human sexuality instructor telling a class that Republican President Donald Trump’s election was an “act of terrorism” got suspended from the California school for one semester.
Caleb O’Neil also must meet with the dean of students of Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa before he’s readmitted and then remain on disciplinary probation for a semester, Campus Reform reported.
In addition, he must write an apology letter to the instructor — Olga Perez Stable-Cox — and a three-page, double-spaced essay on why he recorded the video despite “knowing that it was a violation of the course syllabus” as well as his “thoughts and analysis” regarding why he made it public, among other stipulations, Campus Reform added, citing a disciplinary email.
If O’Neil fails to meet any of the disciplinary requirements, he could be expelled from the Coast Community College District permanently, the outlet noted.
“Unauthorized recording is a serious violation of the Student Code of Conduct,” Interim Dean of Students Victoria Lugo wrote, Campus Reform said. “This is clearly stated in the instructor’s course syllabus in addition to the student code of conduct. When we spoke, you stated that you felt badly about the things that had happened to individuals as a result of this incident. It is my hope that this experience will lead you to truly think through your actions and the consequences of those actions when making decisions in the future. As we discussed, the conduct process is part of the overall college learning process and I do believe that valuable lessons have been gained from this experience.”

I know the rule for recording police is “public employees in the performance of their duties have no expectation of privacy.” Since this is a public school (and since it obviously didn’t disrupt the class, since the prof didn’t learn about it until it was released), why isn’t the rule the same. Taxpayers help pay the salary; they have a right to know what is going on.
Whoa! Whatever the professor says in the classroom is SECRET? Even though We the People pay their salaries?
It appears the psychology departments are filled with @ss-wipe$ in California.
In Santa Monica the department was led by insane leftist. Teaching hate filled politics with half dyed hair. God is F’d, religious people are F’d; and lesbians insisted men were all sh!t also.
But can’t the teacher be sued for malpractice in her teachings?

I’m sure she violated some sort of rules similar to the bogus student code of conduct (how do we know the code of contact really does private recordings such as this?). The kid really needs to fight back by any means necessary short of violence or intimidation of his own.
Olga Perez Stable-Cox should consider converting to Islam, a religion that blocks all freedom of speech and punishes those who report hate and bigotry.
Obviously not enough bad things happened or the College wouldn't be doing this. Since when are public college instructors utterances secret? The school needs some attention from FIRE or equivalent organization.

There was a period where all the insanity and left wing indoctrinating was hitting YouTube. Being the teacher's unions give hundred of millions to Democrats, when they wanted their crimes hidden the state Democrat majority obliged.
As we have seen recently, just about any law can be overturned by the right court. While it’s unlikely in California, the kid might just be able to get some relief on that basis if it were challenged on First Amendment grounds. But I believe the fight here really should be waged in the court of public opinion. I would go on the offensive all the time if I were that young man. Dig into every similar incident in the past, and every aspect of this professor’s past including all such similar statement she may have made clear back to kindergarten. Find comments the administration may have made supporting actions such as what he took when the shoe was on the other foot. Make the fight more trouble for the school than it’s worth.

There are a lot of other schools to go to. Some might be better than the one he has been suspended from.
I would think that misprision would be a term that would factor highly in recording a criminal act.
