IOWA CITY — Her lip quivering, Patrisse Cullors’ heart sank.

It was 2013, and she was in a motel room on a website, waiting for the news of George Zimmerman’s verdict. Guilty, or not guilty, in the killing of Trayvon Martin — a black 17-year-old who was fatally shot by a neighborhood watch volunteer while on his way home from buying candy at a convenience store.

“Not guilty, and they say not guilty, and they continue to say not guilty until they say, ‘not guilty of all charges,’” Cullors, 32, of Los Angeles, recalled for a packed audience of hundreds in the Englert Theatre in Iowa City on Monday night. “And I start to cry. And I don’t cry just for Trayvon. I cry for black people. I cry for this country and our world.”

And through her tears, Cullors said, her spirit rose up with this revelation.

“If we allow this, if we allow ourselves to go silent, if we sweep this moment under the rug, they will continue to kill us and think it’s OK,” she said....

a motel room on a website,

a neighborhood watch volunteer while on his way home from buying candy

The motel room was on a website?

The neighborhood watch volunteer was on his way home from buying candy?

A major problem is fake news is the inability of journalists to pass 6th grade grammar.

They will never lose their chains. They are self imposed.

Even "normie" America (soccer moms and dads and various other low info. voters) are starting to realize that black people are very very different and have very very different values and beliefs.

Identity politics have arrived.

Wait 20 years. The white liberals of today will be voting Republican.

Stop killing one another...

Stop using the “n” word.....

Start SHAMING people who have multiple children out of wedlock......

Start REJECTING the Welfare State......

Reject a culture that tells that being educated is “acting white”....

If you do all these things, the chains will disappear.

"What chains? I’ve seen a lot of black people, and I don’t recall ever seeing one in chains."

The 'chains' are self-imposed. They come from living off handouts from a government demanding nothing but votes, and the soft bigotry of Democrat party low-expectations.

Nothing to lose but our chains is a quotation from Karl Marx.

The Ford Foundation gives BLM money. Henry would spin in his grave if he knew...

I understand the rhetorical nature of the comment about chains. I was asking the question to point out the absurdity of the comment and the insanity of the claim when contrasted to pre-civil war America when black people were actually in chains from time to time.

But they so prefer the rewrite of the legend of St. Skittles - nevermind that he was returning from the store, where he was procuring the ingredients for “lean,” and bashing Zimmerman’s head into the concrete when he was shot.

St. Skittles should by all rights be strictly a minor deity in the pantheon of victimology that is contemporary urban culture. I was watching “The People vs OJ Simpson” on Netflix the other day, and it seems to me that Black Lives Matter owes a debt of gratitude to Johnny Cochran, Robert Shapiro, and OJ Simpson himself for creating the mythology they invoke.

I apologize to BLM. I always thought the the movement started with the Michael Brown shooting.

More likely, Trayvon would have been charged with the murder of George Zimmerman—he was trying to grab Zimmerman’s gun to shoot him with it at the time he was shot.
