This GLOCK vs Jeep video is going to show how well even handgun rounds can do against an unarmored vehicle with the use of multi-calibers in this live fire demonstration. In this GLOCK vs. Jeep Suv scenario, this shooter takes a few pistols and fires multiple rounds with 9mm, 40 and 45 caliber through the hatch back to see how far the ammo will penetrate.
The results will likely surprise you.
Very surprising penetration from Full Metal Jacket pistol rounds, being able to travel, in most cases, right through the front seats. This is exactly why law enforcement and military wear body armor in what is termed "soft-skinned vehicles"; laymans term for unarmored every day trucks, vans and cars.
Modern firearms, especially rifles, with Full Metal Jacket or armored piercing rounds will make swiss cheese of any normal vehicle so there is no real protection from hiding behind car doors or side panels. The only thing that may provide some level of protection is a big engine block.
In many tactical training courses it is actually taught to get away from your vehicle if it is immobile or stuck due to enemy fire. The soft-skinned vehicle only acts as a giant magnet for the bad guys to focus their guns on.
This demo is always good to keep in mind as you never know when you will have to take cover in an emergency situation. See the Glock footage here.
The title is misleading, as it really doesn’t have much to do with a Glock, but rather the ammunition.
The kids like Glocks because they’re cheap and light. Picking up a 1911 would burst a gut for them.
I would be interested to see what a Glock 20 with hard cast bullets would have done.
My armorer is an IDPA shooter. He only had one gun, a Glock he tricked out for competition like no other Glock. He was top of the line in B division. One day he decided to switch to a doubles stack 1911 race gun and immediately jumped to mid A division....
Some of old guys are learning to appreciate a lighter carry weapon.
Seems to me the 40 cal would have had better penetration than the 45 due to velocity.......not a very scientific comparison and different parts of the door/seats would be different thickness, obstructions, etc.....
Ammo ping
The 1911 says, "Hey you ugly foreigner, want to have a drinking contest?"
The Glock replies, "You old idiot, you won't last more than 8 rounds."

How about us geezers that own both in .45?
Really? I’ve shot both, and like them for different reasons. You might ask, how could anyone who has shot John Moses Browning’s Holy Relic like a plastic thing like a Glock? They’re different. I shoot my Glock well, it has a higher capacity, and it’s easy to carry.
In an IDPA match, I have personally (accidentally) shot through the door of a Chevy Cavalier into the passenger compartment, with coated Blue Bullets (not even FMJ). In a real situation, any bad guy in that car would have a problem. One that leaked.
I have a Taraus 1911 in .45
Even though it isn’t a Kimber, there is just nothing like a full size .45 Auto 1911.
Glocks, Springfield XD, even the newer Walthers just seem cheap and plastic toylike.
Interesting. I’m surprised how far they went to be honest.
One thing to note though is that there are cross-members within the back door that might impede the shot, but only if it’s hit. Ditto for the inner springs of the seats.
Glocks and SAs are nice weapons. So you want to spend twice as much by getting on a Kimber? Why not spend some real money and buy a Korth. I believe in “you get what you pay for”, but there are so many good weapons manufacturers without giving up your first born.
9mm is fairly high speed round with a small cross section. Pass-throughs (in humans) are a real issue with 9mm ball, hence I carry only hollow point ammo. What surprises me is seeing the .45 achieve similar penetration to the 9mm. I would have expected it to lag both the 9mm and .40 in this test.
Haha!! That’s great. Consider it stolen. :)
Yeah, they should have used a Datsun, I mean Neesan, or better yet, a Volvo. Those things need killing.
