Agree, Except for LA & San Francisco areas the rest of the state is conservative.

Let those 8-9 counties succeed.

Then renegotiate the food, water and power costs from the good part of the state.

We’ll give them a 50 mile tall slice on the south end of the state. The rest remains in the US. They can start moving now.

1. Unconstitutional (see Civil War)

2. Way too much federal land and military in California for the feds to concede control.

3. Liberals won’t take up arms to fight this war. (Moonbeam?, Kamala Harris?, West Hollywood? Mayor Garcetti? LOL)

4. Jim Robinson!

5. Way too complicated to divide the state...lack of sincerety on libs’ part.

6. Underground conservatives will prevail.

7. Big Joe!

Not all, or even most.
A minority of electricity comes from out of state.
California has considerable electric generation in-state.

But certainly almost all its natural gas comes from out of state, CA depends a lot on natural gas fired power plants.

As I’ve been pointing out from the beginning it won’t happen because the only way it could work is with a Constitutional Amendment and they aren’t trying to do that. If they really wanted to exit they’d try to introduce a constitutional amendment. So it just proves they don’t really want to leave.

As I recall, having living in Monterey, CA for my growing up years, it was a fairly normal and leaning reasonability conservative. It all changed with the late ‘60s.

There is no logical reason why a state with 35,000,000 people and endowed with the vast resources that CA has could not be an independent country. The only real reasons are political.

If Greece can be a country then California can be a country.

It took 4 weeks for the South to form a Federal Government and be up and running as an independent country and doing so while engaging in a major war AT THE SAME TIME using 19th century technology. You could turn CA into a country in 2 days.

I can’t believe it would ever happen.

It never will. Let the Libtards egage in their mental masturbation. Secession is not possible without a huge fight and resistance from the Federal gubmint. Ain't gonna happen.

There is nothing in the Constitution making secession illegal. Nothing.

It would be disturbing, but kind of perversely fun, to see rich/proud California reduced to a 3rd World country.....

So where are all of the Op Eds about new-confederates that you read whenever Texas or other states talk about secession?

I would like to see how Los Angeles powers up without buying power from the USA.

I think in about three weeks Calexit would lose the lower quarter of its “state” to mexicans.

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – The combined debt of California’s state and local governments is at least $848 billion and could escalate past $1.1 trillion, according to a new report.

The Supreme Court case of Texas v White (1869) — (though I do see your point about it not stated expressly in the Constitution)
