Pretty sure that DeVos has changed her mind on Common Core! I think even one of the architects, Bill Bennett, is in the process of changing his mind on it.
“Let our children go” and be free of this curriculum that is now laden with untruths, anti-American sentiments, and methods that are dummying down even the most brilliant.
Students tell me their teachers have indicated to them that even they don’t understand it. Massive numbers of students in our area are enrolled in special education classes and/or in-school tutoring.
So Donna Garner thinks that if President Donald Trump tells these people to end Common Core they won’t do it?
Whom does she want appointed? There is a place on the Transition web site to apply for positions. Had she done that?
Horrible. Not only is this guy a Bushie, but he is on the board of the Lumina Foundation. Here is just a snippet from its strategic plan, which combines vacuous education talk with a call for more spending, largely based on closing the “attainment gap” for minorities:
“...the key state role in postsecondary educationand the source of states potential influence
over the results we get from the postsecondary learning systemstems from its role as funder. State
funding is still the cornerstone on which public postsecondary education is based, but it needs to adapt
so that it offers the kind of incentives that students and institutions need to increase attainment.
Lumina has played a key role in the development of outcomes-based funding, and we will continue to
press for the implementation of next-generation approaches across the states. Outcomes-based funding
can help increase student success and close equity gaps in attainment when systems are designed
and implemented to meet certain criteria. Those criteria include: funding is aligned with state goals and
priorities; differences in institutional missions are recognized; and incentives are in place to increase
attainment of quality credentials among underrepresented populations. We will also work with states to
eliminate low-performing developmental education, improve community college transfer systems, and
enact other policies that will close equity gaps and increase student success. Luminas ability to engage state policymakers is a key capacity for advancing action. Strategy Labs, our learning-based approach to spurring policy change in states, will be enhanced to support a studentsuccess-oriented, outcomes-driven policy agenda. We will also continue to engage policymakers directly through state advisors and Lumina staff.”

If Hubbard is mischaracterized as badly as they have DeVos then they are off the rails
Get the Red out. Get the Fed out.
Trump stumped on get rid of common core and let states handle education.
If some thing else is being implemented, we need to remind him of his promise.
There should be a major public investigation of the link between Common Core and Pearson Publishing, as well as the strangle hold on curriculum content and exorbitant costs of textbooks to parents from Kindergarten through college due to Pearson’s control and connections to foreign entities.

I have heard that Trump is opposed to Common Core.
I don’t really know where he stands.
Of interest to homeschoolers.
.
This is an application of the “Big Lie” approach.

The DoED is a creation of Jimmy Carter. A piece of garbage.
Jimmy created it as part of a negotiation of getting the teachers union to support his presidency, in exchange, Jimmy would create the DoED. All politics.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Department_of_Education
..signed into law by President Jimmy Carter on October 17, 1979, it began operating on May 4, 1980.[3]
..with about 5,000 employees. It has an annual budget of US$73 Billion (2016).
It will always be wrong because the paradigm of education is kind of wrong.
With that said, common core is low denomination tripe.
-—It is such a shame that Donald Trump is not listening to the moms and pops of America who sit with their frustrated children each night and see the garbage that their children are being forced to consume in their Common Core-compliant curriculum.-—
It’s important to note that while it’s true that mothers and fathers (who pay attention) see the ‘garbage’ rammed down their children’s throat, they only see part of it - and by design.
The schools are getting very good at concealing the most egregious aspects of indoctrination; making it nigh impossible to see what even the kids themselves don’t even recognize as Marxist propaganda.
