I’m not sure how Whedon went from libertarian to uber-Leftist - unless he just enjoys the positive attention from his Hollywood peers so much he can’t help himself.
My fondest memory of his product was Firefly. I’ll choose to remember it and probably not much else output from him, frankly.

Firefly/Serenity is nearly a diatribe against globalism and leftist thinking (’unified’ quasi-US/China future dystopia crushes libertarian rebellion, heroes struggle to survive on the fringes of a post-freedom society, while rabid killers are unleashed by governments’ inevitably failed attempts to create a leftist utopia). It even comes complete with its own variation of this year’s WikiLeaks scenario :)
How one goes from that to a reflexive hatred of anything even vaguely dissenting from the left meme, I don’t know.
